hi my story is really long so heres a short version...

i had glandular fever at the start of this year worst symptoms between feb-early may although the worst symptoms have gone weird throat feeling, swollen glands, sore neck, sore back, anxiety, ear infections, sore wrists, no energy.

its now october ten months from all this started and i am still pretty uncomfortable sore neck front & back, ear problems, pain under left breast rib cage area they are pretty uncomfortable to deal with each day some worse than others and its really starting to get me down. ive never felt as bad as i have in the last ten months.

the docs have done bloods, chest xray, & abdominal scan all clear thank goodness.

they are sending me for an appointment with PPS (persistent pain symptoms) the last couple of doctors are saying i may have fibro.

has anyone had a similar experience? or can advise me on any pain relief for my symptoms above? surely i wont have this forever im only 31 years?

thanks for any comments/advice.

Hello poppy, first I am sorry you are experiencing all this discomfort. I have been diagnosed with either lymes arthritis caused by lymes disease or fibromyalgia. whatever I have is awful, very painful all over. I feel like I have the flu my fingers hurt, my neck, knees, back, feet, indigestion, many symptoms if fibromyalgua.. I have tried Canabis oils and pain patch without the THC high this is legal where I live however no help. I am on tramodol as needed but I hate all meds especially narcotics so I try to take no more than 2 a day with Tylenol. helps a little. I now have fluid on hips waiting to get into my rheumatoid specialist. can't tell you what you have as I am not a doctor and fybromialgia has many different symptoms. look up on line. I pray you will find your answer for diagnosis and get help good luck and keep us posted. prayers.

Hello Poppy...sorry to read how things are with you since having glandular fever. For me though it was very interesting to read, because when I was around 27 I also got glandular fever (now in my 60s) and suffered very badly from it. In my 30s my arms/legs felt very weak, making it hard to do normal chores and from then onwards suffered with pain and tiredness as well as OA. It took a long time afterwards to be diagnosed with having Fibromyalgia......which I assume to this day I have !! What I would like to say is, I do believe that the glandular fever is the cause of my Fibro, as I have read that it can be caused from this virus. There are unfortunately no blood tests to confirm Fibro, but a doctor who specialises in this illness can diagnose and confirm it from examination. It is important to find a doctor who knows enough about Fibro. Good Luck.
