what is wrong with me :(

Ok guys/ladies so i hope that this is in the correct forum as i cant find any other place that seems correct.

I weigh around 15 stone and im a little under six feet tall i do not smoke (never have) and very rarely drink yes im overweight and that,s why i am here see i want to lose weight .

But the thing is i have NO stamina and i honestly do not think it is my weight as i have never had good stamina or even below average i mean i have like zero i can run like 200 feet before i simply cannot breathe and i see black vertical lines in my eyes. i get heart palputations all the time and on christmas day 2013 i fainted falling on to my childrens new toys (sorry kids)

in 2012 out of desperation to find work i tried to join the army as you can imagine i failed the run on my initial test clocking in at around 12 minutes for 1.5 miles when i should have hit around the 9 minute mark to get into further training .I was offered further training as a chef but the guy who interviwed me afterwards suggested i should realy reconsider any further training untill i have upped my fitness by quite a margin.

Ok so i went home and set out a plan to get my times down after around 6 weeks of running 1 and a half miles every other day i had noticed no improvement at alli was still running a few hundered yards and stoppping then another and so on i ran so much i caused a problem with my legs which i still suffer with my docter simply called it shin splints but i never got any more information

I gave up on the whole army idea as at this stage i felt quite low and was convinced nothing was gonna get better .ok so i get on with my life not doing much exercise and since then i have found out my son has duchene muscular dystrophy and we have moved home twice trying to find a house that will be good for his needs

As you can imagine i dont have much time anymore ( i have 4 children)

and find it hard to make time to exercise etc recently i persuaded some freinds that we need to get together for a game of football once a week theye obliged . but i simply couldnt play after around 5 minutes i was struggling to breath could not stand and was seeing double now i was not the only overweight person there but i was the only person who does not smoke and does not drink regular .

i fear that if i go to the docters he will simply tell me to lose weight (AGAIN)

I simply cannot do the exercise needed to lose the weight

sorry this is so long guys

I still think you should explain this to your doctor.

Eating less calories will help you to lose weight, if you can, make healthy choices instead of unhealthy. Exchange biscuits/cakes/crisps for fruit and nuts - honestly! It has worked for me. Eat a protein breakfast like eggs with tomatoes - helps you feel fuller for longer, rather than sugary cereals.

As far as exercise goes, try something which requires less aerobic effort for now (at least until you have seen a doctor). Try yoga, bodybalance or bodypump. These are quite static classes. Contrary to what people think, you do not have to be flexible to start yoga, you increase flexibility and strength with time and it also helps you get in tune with your body. It also does burn a few calories while taking part in a class. Bodypump is a weight lifting class and it is great fun, set to music. Bodybalance is similar to yoga but set to music.

Also do some pressups and situps, and just walk as many places as you can.

Further to my reply above, you can do exercise at home too, use the wii fit if you have one. Take the children for walks with you.

You do have to be pro-active to make time to change your life, it doesn't just happen.

    Good luck x

    Hi starfiresteve,

Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about your Son, such a real shame for one so young to have this awful ailment.

Back to you, has your Dr ever taken blood tests to see if you have a thyroid problem? It can affect men nearly as much as women, but to find out for sure you definitely need blood tests taken, and if I were you I'd ask him/her to to so asap!

Yes, if you could lose some weight you'll definitely feel a lot more like exercise - but if you do have an ailment such as a thyroid problem then your metabolism will be hit and keep you feeling so sluggish. Get yourself tested first, but meanwhile cut out the snacks that you know have too much fat or sugar as that will only worsen things.

With regards to running or football, get a little weight off before you start either again. Meanwhile, do some brisk walking at least twice a day. Start off by doing a half an hour brisk walk once or twice a day for a week, then increase it to 3/4 hour and up and up until you achieve 10.000 steps per day! By then you'll have lost quite a bi of weight...painlessly.

Get yourself a pedometer so you're ready to go. Take heed of how you're feeling now and then how you feel after having done the above for just one month. How you could feel after you've lost some weight, I promise, will feel a whole lot better!!

Start off by going to the Dr!

    Best wishes, Sue
