What is your BV like?

I have had bv for years and seriously nothing works. Sometimes it will be good sometimes it will be bad but its always just so annoying. I always tell my GYN about it and last time she told me it didn't really look like I had any issues when she looked under the microscope, so she told me to do a baking soda bath since I still felt uncomfortable. I just wanted to hear what your guys' symptoms are, and if my gyn was right. Maybe I have something else.. all std tests have come back negative and Ive just had the same symptoms forever. I rarely even have sex. My bv symptoms are:

-A LOT of discharge thats really watery and like a whitish gray color.

If I sleep with no underwear the discharge sometimes like runs down my inner thighs and I wake up and it's crusty (sorry thats gross)

-As far as smell, sometimes it is like a soury smell but I don't think its usually too bad, but I could just be used to it.

-My vulva and like the very opening of my vagina are constantly burning. Its like a mild burn, nothing crazy but just enough for me to notice and for it to be annoying. This is what bothers me the most I think. And I have told my gyn and thats when she said to use a baking soda bath. I did that once and I don't feel like it did a thing. The last man I had sex with said his penis burned a little after we had sex (it didnt even last an hour), but like i said all std testing came back negative!! So I cant help but think my bv is just out of control and theres so much bad bacteria that it effects my partner too.

Anyone else have burning?

I'd love to hear any tips or stories from anyone.

same. its very frustrating! always uncomfortable and tye smell drives me insane! i have tried everything and been to 4 diff docs the last one told me theirs nothin else to do but i refuse to live my life like this. i have suffered long enough and i need something to at least get rid of the smell. I cant handle the embarrassment anymore. Nobody wants to be around it which i cant blame them. I dontt even want to be around it but i have no choice. This is the worst thing i have ever dealt with in my life. Whats doctors for if they cant fix a problem? Why even go to the doctor?

Sorry you are going thru this for BV was a nightmare for me too. So im going to tell you what worked for me. After I took that nasty ass flagyl for the hundredth time I started taking a probiotic. My doctor couldn't tell me why it kept coming back. So I researched some probiotics. Seems the flagyl was killing my good and bad bacteria throwing my ph balance off. I stop having sex and washing with soap during my healing process. No tight undies and clothes. I sat in vinegar baths every night for 15 minutes and made sure I drink plenty of water to flush it out. I eat yogurt everyday. I wore panty liner's. Hope this helps for you👌

hi megmeg, im sorry you are going thru this but i have too experience bv and its horrible. What I come to figure out is once you take the medicine from the bv it flushes out all, the good and bad bacteria. Needles to say it messes up your ph balance. So pray and take notes hunny, your on your way to be cured. First off stop having unprotected sex. Your going to start listening to your body it tells you when your ph probably off. Drink plenty of water, wear cotton undies and panty liners. Give your vagina air to breathe. Use fragrance free soap, to no soap at all. No tight clothes. Take vinegar baths once a day atleast. Taking a multivitamin is beneficial, research probiotics, eat yogurts, cut back sugar, drink more water. You have to make sure you restore good bacteria. Follow these steps and you should be clearing up after 10 days. Remember you will not heal until you stop disturbing the healing process. Get as much rest possible and let me know if this helps. Good luck on feeling better.🙏

Thank you for the tips! I have truly tried all of these aside from a vinegar bath and nothing works. Maybe i'll give it a go. Do you have any info on that?

Go back to your doctor, consult him about probiotics. Its beneficial that you restore good bacteria . First you need to take the medicine your doctor prescribed. Dont have sex until you are healed. Try not to disrupt your vagina during the healing process and bv is stubborn. The vinegar bath will reduce yeast, and odor. Sit in there until your toes rinkle. Soap will upset your vagina more. I use no fragrace soap. Take a probiotic 1 a day. They probably cramp your stomach a bit so you need to find out the best brand for you. Drink alot of water, I repeat drink plenty of water to flush it out. If you follow these steps everyday, you will feel alot better hun, I promise. Good luck and try to not upset your vagina while you are on your way to healing. I pray you feel better in a few days. Stay strong.

i have constant burning too! It's the only symptom I have left. Everything else cleared up but I cant get rid of the burning! All my tests came back clear too. It's so annoying

@mw7402 Did you have odor with BV? How did you get rid of it?

@megmeg1196 I have burning too, but not much discharge. All STD test are negative for me too. Burning is a classic symptom of BV. Some times it gets so bad I use an ice pack! On top of BV, I also have Vulvodynia (vaginal pain syndrome) and both cause burning. Anyways, my BV symptoms are mostly odor and always have been. From sour to musty to just fowl. It's a total nightmare. When I was younger, I would cut out drinking, smoking, not have sex while I was having issues and it would go away. But as I get older its it harder to get rid of. Live a clean, healthy lifestyle, it helps and of course probiotics!!

boric acid was a life saver! it took away the odor and discharge. i used a company called love wellness. they have a kit designed to treat bv and yeast infections. i also took vitamin D, zinc and probiotics.

@mw7402 Thanks for the tips! Did you have any success with the kit?

Yes it definitely helped! Adding vitamin D, zinc and vitamin B were also super helpful. It feels like a lot of pills but its worth it to make the symptoms stop!

I've had BV off and on for over 20 years and nothing has worked consistently. Lately I’ve been dealing with the a bad case that's lasted over 6 months. I have tried flagyl, metro gel, clindamycin and boric acid. From what I have read on this forum i may not be allowing my vag enough time to heal. I finished my last round of metrogel Thursday night and i am back in flames and smelling like kitty litter today. My plan is to get some vitamin D, reduce my sugar intake, start back on probiotics and use the boric acid suppositories. This whole process is exhausting and my poor sex life has become non-existent. Any insight you have please feel free to let me know. thanks
