    Hi Andrew

Sorry to hear your going through this .

You may be referred for a cystoscopy

Has the doctor mentioned this or was the scan you say you had enough for the doctor .

Years ago i had bad episodes of this, infact one night i was in A&E, not only did i have blood in urine they said there was fleshy bits😳

Mine occurred when i started drinking the orange juice in cartons, cant touch it now, as this happens.

( that concentrated orange) use to not agree with me at all ..

Is there anything that may be triggering it off for you.

I have a sensitive bladder and after all this was detected etc, then i had a sensitive bladder at times, urges to pee etc, felt like UTI but wasnt, stress made it worse, had a bladder muscle spasm and use to then take oxybutinin tablets when it occurred to relax the muscle.

All fine now, and was nothing of concern in the end ..

Also had a cystoscopy too to check bladder was all okay, it was ..

no nothing to trigger it at all but i have been urinating more often for the last 12 months and it has been dark coloured so i pressume i have had blood in my urine for a long time, i too take oxybutinin but that only stops me getting up in the night and not the blood in urine,i know your not a doctor but what could it be im worried?

Andrew, when you say your urine is "dark coloured: do you mean a red colour or dark yellow? If it's more dark yellow than red it might just mean that you haven't been drinking enough as normal urine should be a light straw colour.  Mine often goes dark yellow and I have also had "traces" of blood in my urine for years and after lots of tests, a cystoscopy and a CT scan nothing untoward was found.  The reason for the last two tests was because I went to the toilet one day and it looked like I had poured a jar of beetroot into it so it was hardly a trace. It was thought that perhaps a blood vessel had burst, hence all the blood.  I found out about the traces of blood because I have been diabetic for 20 years and they very frequently said it was there so I have had it going on from when I was diagnosed.  This doesn't mean there's nothing to worry about but if you're being checked out and they can't find anything then try not to worry too much.

yes very true, urine should be straw coloured, this was said to me, dark pee = not drinking enough fluid, or was in my case, cant speak for everyone ..

      but wish you all well
