I seem to have bad reactions to everything even codine and it's driving me a little mad.

I've been on Steriods infliximab mercapirine didn't react well at all to ascol or suppositories and having really bad side effects from current pill I've been on since November mercaptopurine.

I'm now starting to lose my hair and cause of all the toxins and risks of cancer and liver damage etc it gives me massive anxiety taken this tablet I just feel ill and tied all the time even though the tablet has stopped colitis symptoms the side effects are just stopping me from actually having much of a life as getting depressed and put on weight and can't even get out of bed half the time which is not ideal baring in mind in a single parent to 2 kids under 6

I just want to know what other things j can ask to try that don't have loads of dodgey side effects

Hi, who are you under? I presume you have a GI Consultant , have they discussed with you what happens next as they like you to go on a reducing doseage so that the side-effects are lessened. Have they checked you for anaemia? UC sufferers generally have low iron. Glad your UC is under control. I have mentioned on here about vitamin B especially Biotin being great for hair loss. the pharmacy has liquid iron and B vitamins which is easier on the stomach for digestion.

    I wish you luck.

    Hello Samantha.

So sorry to hear you are having a tough time.  I too am having difficulties finding a medication that I am not allergic to and in my case it is asprin which is in many of the colitis drugs.  I am on steroids still and starting an old chemo drug next week with all the associated side effects.  I sometimes feel like a human guinea pig.  So I am sorry to say that I cannot help with advice on medications and you must keep going back to your consultant until you and he finds something which will help.  Good luck and best wishes for the future.

    Hi Samantha

I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. It actually feels like I'm reading my own story. I was put on both azathioprine and Mercaptopurine and had allergic reactions to both medications but the reaction didn't hit until between 6-8 weeks after taking the medication. The medications gave me relief from my UC symptoms but the side effects I received from the medication out weighed the desease symptoms. It's all so stressful and feels like everything is failing. I totally understand how you feel. Make sure you are honest with your Specalist. I was taken off both medications and prescribed Entyvio. I have had two infusions and I am starting to see relief. I would definitely recommend researching it and talking to your doctor.

Hi thank you for your responses side effects did start around same time as yours did and also got random anxiety but I recon its down to the tablets cause I've never had it before and there's no reason for me to get it now over nothing stressful in my life

I have consultant app first week of March and today I haven't taken a tablet and gonna take a tablet every other day rather then every day till my ibd finally gets back to me to advise me on what I should do.

Got blood test tomorrow and doctors 29/2 can't wait NOT

Really not sure whether it's worth getting back on anti depressants I need something to perk me up i feel so down on myself
