Hi Sherry. I myself am on a cocktail of medication. I take Solpadol 2 tabs 4 times a day, Gabapentin, 2 tabs 3 times a day, Amitriptyline 35mg at night and Naproxen, 2 tabs a day.

I cannot tell you what will work best for you though, as everyone is differant. There are quite a few people on here who are taking differant meds. I have tried a few myself, and I take what works best for me. Good luck on your visit to the doctors and I hope you get sorted

I seem to be allergic or something to hydrocodone.......especially the 10 mg. Maybe it kinda emotional guuilt on my part that keeps the benfits away because every time I take it.witch is rarely..... I feel like I am becoming a druggy. I have tried Tramadol for pain and might as well take a jelly bean. Norco is good but no cigar. What would you recomend?

You are taking breakthrough pain medicine. If you have been taking it for that long then, it is time to stop. Ask your doctor about long acting pain medicine. There are various alternatives to the Norco, are available in the market such as oxycontin or Avinza. The next step up from Norco is Percocet which oxycodone with acetaminophen. The oxycontin (Which is just plain oxycodone without acetaminophen) due to you developing a tolerance to the hydrocondone. But don’t decide on yourself before taking any medicine and consult with your doctor. It is a common thing that body develops tolerance to medicine which we are taking from longer time and you will not get effect from that medicine. In such case, doctor will ask you to stop taking that medicine and prescribe you other alternative.

I have just been back to see the doctor today and he has now told me to stop taking the solpadol and given me tramadol instead. Are you in the UK? Because I have never heard of these meds. I have a CT scan booked for the 29th of this month, then I go back to see joint consultant surgeons, to see what the next step is going to be. There was talk of me being fitted with a back brace, as mine involves my neck and lumber region. I have spurs on my vertebrae that need taking off, so at some stage, surgery will be needed.

Thank you so much for the information ..The doctor hasn't explained any thing to me except telling me every disk is bugleing and pinching my spinal cord and  bone spurs every where; besides my neck is curveing back and forth and I have extreme  arthritis in my neck.  My pain goes into my head, into my jaw and ears across my shoulders and down my left arm and sometimes my right arm; I have problems with holding my urine also.  I go may 1st for my first seriod injections.and after I get them the doctor wants to talk to me about surgery and explain my options.

So, i'm trying to learn as much as I can so I can make better choices for myself..   ( Yes , I have been on Norco's for a long time now  and I live in the U.S.A.  in Califorina ) Thank You Again

You have all the same symptoms as me. I have bulging discs both on my cervical spine and lumber spine. Bone spurs, stenosis, left arm pain, left leg pain, pains running up the back of my head, csnnot empty my bladder properly, numbness in my back passsage. The list goes on. The last time I went to see my specialists, they were discussing putting me in a back brace.

Horizant 600 mg (a timed-release Gabapentin) twice a day gives me about a 3 relief on a 1 to 10 scale, where 1 is no relief. I tried regular Gabapentin and it did not work for me.
