What's going on

When I was 18 I got glandular fever and I don't feel ever truly recovered.. I seemed to get tired a lot and always catching colds etc. as the years have gone on I've had bad episodes which have come and gone. Now at the age of 30 I've been off work for 4 months. After a period of having hand foot and mouth followed by 3 lots of tonsillitis I was exhausted and never had any energy. The doctor has done blood tests which are all clear and checked my vitamin d levels which were ok. Even took me off citalipram and put me on duloxitine with no joy. He said he would refer me to see someone to decide if I had Cfs/me but wanted to change my tablets again to a new form of citalipram. I've been on them about 4 days. Now, at night u struggle to get off to sleep. I don't know if I'm worrying about sleeping or if it's a side effect but it's like I've made this last 4 months up, well last 12 years up now. I still get tired in the day and rest but now feel I won't be taken seriously - what do people think?

Good luck. Unfortunately a lot of the people working in ME/CFS are not very good or trustworthy. I would be cautious about any medical advice, ask about what evidence is there to support their claims, and get second opinions. Hopefully things will improve for you.

Thank you - I just want to get answers and I'm afraid that they will think I've been making up how I've been the last 4 months by masking it with medication.

It is a difficult situation when so much is still not understood, but employers, etc can want clear and simple answers. Hopefully things will work out okay for you some way or other. Remember that a lack of clear answers is not your fault or something which mean others should be allowed to treat you unfairly.
