What's the longest you've gone without having an old outbreak?

17 and found out I have herpes last night and am trying to cope. To anyone else dealing I need some light on this. Can you possibly go months or even years without having a single outbreak if you take your meds and take care of your immune system?

I haven't had the diagnosis yet but I took a photo on this website of the blisters and people confirmed the symptoms I was having plus the looks of the blisters were indeed herpes, just don't know if it's 1 or 2 yet

Again, it makes a difference which type you have, and it all very much depends on your individual makeup. You don't even need meds if it's HSV1, by the way, and it's only supposed to be given for HSV2 if outbreaks are frequent and/or you have a negative partner.

I haven't had an outbreak from HSV-2 in about 4 or 5 months now.. I am not taking antivirals. However, the shedding went away about 2 weeks ago.

That's good about your outbreaks, but how can you claim you are no longer shedding? Unless you are doing pcr swabs around the clock, and at the very least daily, you can't actually know or prove this! Shedding when there aren't outbreaks is asymptomatic, so you wouldn't know, and has been shown to occur at random, both on different days and within different times during a day, as well as for different durations, sometimes only lasting in short bursts.
