What's your current maintenance regimen?

I've had bv for a little over a year, for most of that time I tried a lot of antibiotics and went back to the doctor. basically it got to the point where the last 2 times I've taken flagyl or tindamax my symptoms were still there on my last day of treatment.. Now I'm just dealing with it... anyone else in this situation too?  if so does anyone have a regimen that works? I haven't tried many of the home remedies yet..

I always recommend treating it with a compounded Probiotic vaginal cream and continue with oral probiotics (I like Florajen and Orthobiotics). If you have a compounding pharmacy near you, you can ask them if they make Probiotic vaginal cream, Boric Acid suppositories, and also Calendula suppositories.

I have had chronic BV since I met my husband 6 years ago. I was so tired of antibiotics and realized that BV always got out of control for me after sex, and I mean every single time! (it makes sense since his ph is much more alkaline and causes havoc on women's normally acidic vaginal flora, which then causes BV to proliferate). In any case, I've been successfully managing it for 5 years by using boric acid capsules after intercourse. My OBGYN also suggested Vit C caps intravaginally (as that also makes the flora more acidic). This has also been a good option for me and so I have been maintaining myself mostly BV-free with this regimen. Occasionally (maybe once a year or so, it gets out of control and the Vit C or boric acid can't manage it and I'll have to take flagyl). But I'm so happy to have some way to control it for the most part (and I've certainly done trials on myself when I didn't use those products after sex, and every time, BV gets out of control again). Hope this helps and you can find a regimen that works for you!

Thanks, I've heard a lot about that and was planning on trying boric acid soon.  Do you have anything else in your post-sex routine that helps keep it from flaring up?
