What should I do??

For those that have had multiple knee surgeries your opinion please. I have had too many problems with my bionic knee ( putting it bluntly it sucks!! )Now I am in a psottion which really stinks. The Specialist that I being referred to I will not be able to see till the 15th one reason had to switch insurance and does not go into effect till May 1st and the Dr. that referred me say I should talk to the new Dr. concerning my issues. ( I think that was more from his nurse not the Dr. himself. I am going to see my pain Dr. next week but now what should I do? I am worried if I get some stronger medication it might effect how my body reacts to the meds I will get at the hospital. If you take pain meds for a period of time the body builds up a tolerance so that is why I am hesitant. I have been told this surgery that I need is going to hurt even more so then a typical TKR due to they have to do something to the tibia since there is going to a significant amount of bone loss due to all the TKRs I have had and there is nothing left to place the implant on. So there is my concern why am I asking because it hurts and it hurts a lot I woke up this morning my knee is more swollen then normal just puttering around in the yard flat out hurts so am I being too paranoid about asking for stronger meds or should I just tough it out? Really hate being miserable.

Just a thought....go to the ER that accepts your current insurance over the weekend ( your Dr won't be in the office) and tell them about your pain. Once there you can explain your insurance situation. They can't refuse you service by law and will help you out. They will probably give you a 14 day supply of meds to get you by.

I was thinking exactly the same as OFG! Only not sure how the insurance thing works over there!

Over here it would be a trip to A&E but the thought is the same! If you are in extreme pain go & get it checked out & get some better pain relief! You shouldn't be allowed to suffer like this!

I really hope you get some relief soon, you don't deserve any of this!

Going to an ER is not really going to solve anything at best like it was mentioned I might get something for pain but that is it plus the cost involved. From what I have experienced at the ER you will be seen by a DR. but it could take awhile based on what problems the other patients have ortho. is not high on the priority list. I can make it till Wed. pain sucks but its not like I have never been in pain before either. Its great I am frustrated ( about my situation ) in pain ( wonder why ) scared or maybe its just nervous ( wondering exactly what the Dr. is going to say ). At least here I can vent it saves my daughter from having to hear it.

If your insurance won't cover it you are correct in not wanting to go. Most of the time around here they just give you something for pain plus a supply unless you are a frequent flyer, then they are more reluctant to give you meds. Pain just absolutely controls your body and mind, there is no doubt about it.

Insurance will cover part but when your on a limited income I would rather not spend my money on that.
