What should I do? Please help

I thought I would post on here again as for the past couple of days I've been contemplating speaking to the doctor and I don't know if I should keep going with my current dose or change it, or just stop sertraline.

I was given sertraline to help with my anxiety, mainly health anxiety. I started taking 50mg in april and around 10 days later started experiencing frequent bowel movements. Now I know that sertraline can cause diarrhoea but I wasnt experiencing diarrhoea, I was just going a lot. I spoke to the doctor who thought it was a bug.

After a month I spoke to another doctor as I was still having the same problem, they did blood tests and a FIT test which all came back normal. After that the doctor said it was probably the sertraline causing these problems and that some people have persistent side effects.

Its been 3 months and I'm still having the same issue. It has gotten better, most days I'll only go twice a day, but some days I keep needing to go. Before the sertraline I only had to go once a day.

I feel like the sertraline did help with my anxiety, im doing much better compared to last april, but this bowel issue is starting to get to me.

i dont know if i should keep going with 50mg. The last time i spoke to the doctor they recommended I increase my dose to 100mg but im scared its going to make my bowels go crazy. I have also seen some people saying they decreased their dose or stopped it and their bowel movements went back to normal.

Thanks for reading

    Hello

Why not see if you can try a different anti depressant. If Sertraline is causing this side effect then perhaps its better to try something else. I have had to change meds in the past until i found a good fit for me 😃
