What should I expect? Acetabular Retroversion diagnosis.

Hi everyone!

I am a 23yr old (female) and this past Tuesday was told I have 'Acetabular Retroversion' of my hips. This was after visiting the doctor with hip pain and her ordering some blood tests  (results yet to come back) and a hip x-ray. I actually visited the doctor because my mum has Osteoarthritis of her hip and I was concerned that may be the case for me too.

My doctor actually admitted that she hadn't heard of Acetabular Retroversion before (that she had to Google it!) but gave me a brief rundown of what it is and I've since done a bit of research myself. I understand it's a form of hip dysplasia and is a little less common? (correct me if I'm wrong, of course!). I have been referred to the hip specialists within my city, so am awaiting contact from them so I can make an appointment. That's likely to be a few weeks away though.

My question is: when I visit the specialists, what can I expect? Does anyone here have or have experience/knowledge of Acetabular Retroversion; what is the usual form of 'treatment' (if any?), are they any specific questions I should ask, should I prepare myself for them to want to do any further 'tests' (?). I just have no idea what to expect! I am totally new to all of this - my pain only surfaced within the last few months -  I don't know any of the terms, really any specifics, or how things usually unfold when hip issues arise.

Absolutely any information from anyone is appreciated! Thank you!
