What should i expect when coming off metatrexate and hydroxycloriquine??

I have been on 400mg of hydroxychoriquine since january and metatrexate since may (first 10mg tablets, then up to 15mg injection) then last weekend i noticed i was having problems with my sight, blurred vision, taking time to focus so on monday i stopped the hydroxychoriquine but i couldnt do anything about the metx as my injection day is friday. I havent noticed any side effects coming off hydro and today i have seen my consultant and explained to him that i havent had a day that i was either in pain or feeling unwell or both since starting metx so he has taken me off it with straight away, he gave me another steriod injection and told me that the nurse will contact me to start me on lefumicide (sorry spelling, you know what i mean).
Questions. Will coming off metx have any side effects ? and how long do i need to be off metx before i can start lef.
Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't need to wait at all after stopping MTX since it does nothing to your immune system. As far as side effects coming off, you shouldn't have any.

I wonder that MTX is even a problem to stop before surgery. I don't think it hinders healing whatsoever

MTX is stopped due to its immune-system suppression qualities. If an infection takes hold, the body can't fight it as well with mtx.

It's actually both, been on methotrexate for about 15 years, and past two years alongside biological drugs... After spending over a week in hospital with a severe infection that couldn't be located. My rheumatologist specialist was furious that my methotrexate wasn't stopped while in there because it interfears with your immune system,, I constantly have infections going on.. But it's also a anti metabolite so technically your both right

Did they put you back on MTX after you came out of the hosp and after the multiple infections? I am debating lower dose MTX and humira since some people and some studies show if you are on both that less chance of humira stopping to be effective. I keep putting off starting humira over concerns of the constant infections but I think after my colonoscopy next week i will start the biologic. Finally have a grandaughter and I don't want to feel like I have to stay away but this disease doesn't go away that's for sure

Hi. Yes I'm on the lowest dose possible now. And touch wood the infections have stopped for a while. I live in same house as a toddler and so far the only thing I've caught is a cold... Ive just stopped gollimad which is a biological, and waiting to start a new one. But I see it like this, we can get on with life. See our little family members yes they do seem to carry bugs and stuff, but antibiotics seem to cure most infections, only thing I was warned about the most is staying away from someone' with tb. And chicken pox
