what supplements?

:D I am about to order some health supplements and would like some advice from the experienced PMR sufferers what is good. Of course, I know about the need for Calcium and Vit D but any other helpful supplements would be welcome. Since starting on Prednilisone last week I am now back to my normal flexibility and pain free. I hope this keeps up!!!

You could try Turmeric for its high anti-inflammatory properties. I'm one of those people who believes we can get all we need from a healthy diet and by steaming all the veggies to preserve their vitamin content. Since being diagnosed with PMR I try to include as many anti-inflammatory foods in my diet as possible.
Good news that you are pain-free and do hope you will have a text-book recovery from your PMR.

Just wanted to remind you that you don't need to buy the calcium and VitD supplements - they come on prescription and I assume you have a pre-pay certificate? If you need more than about 4 prescriptions in 3 months it's worth getting one - my chemist in Durham even was waiting for me to tell me my husband should have got himself one the day before as the individual prescriptions were for about 15 quid more than the 3-months certificate and here were the figures so I could get his refund!! High quality of chemist in the NE - ask MrsK about her delivery service! I usually get a 3 month one and stock up just before it runs out and then have a gap before getting the next one as that works out cheaper than getting an annual one.
On the other hand - if you need thyroxine or certain other things you won't have to pay for anything of course as my daughter discovered when her husband was found to be mildly hypothyroid. She has brittle asthma but that isn't considered life-threatening enough for her to have free inhalers!
In fact - a question here: can you get the calcium/vit D supplements without a prescription in GB? They're prescription-only here in Italy.
cheers

That's fantastic that you eat salmon, mackerel and trout - all oily fish which is excellent to help protect your bones whilst taking steroids. I'm careful with what fruits I eat so as to avoid too much acid (not good for the inflammation) but amazingly lemons although acidic turn to alkaline in your body. I have a feeling that mangoes may act in the same way. As for your hiatus hernia, do you already take live yoghurt daily as, if so, that should be a great help. That's wonderful that you have already been able to return to Yoga - unfortunately I have a slippage at the base of my spine so I'm unable to do yoga and, in any case, with PMR I'm still unable to get down up and down off the floor even after 4 years - still living in hope though  !
