What tablets have you been prescribed?

Hi 💩 i'm new to patient.info but I'm not a new sufferer of IBS!

My symptoms came on around one year ago when my parents marriage started to break down and I guess you could say it was subconsciously affecting me. I was never a regular toilet person any way that something changed last year. Diarrhoea was more prominent and abdominal pain sent me to a&e in the summer. Out of this came an ultrasound which was unremarkable and sigmoidoscopy revealed nothing sinister and therefore comes down to IBS - that's what I was told. I managed to live with that however if I went out drinking I would probably be on the toilet most of the night. But the pain wasn't that existent last year. When my parents split up at Christmas I had to go straight into renting on my own and I also started a new job at a hospital ironically. Everything got a bit too much I guess you could say.

Then it wasn't until my boyfriend and I visited turkey June this year, and by day six of the holiday I had influxes of diarrhoea. However I was never sick so I can't imagine I caught a bug. I also suffered heatstroke on the last day which turned my flight home upside down all I wanted to do was be home in bed.

I took further tests after being back a week, stool sample revealed no growth and I had one episode of Vomitting randomly on a night out after one wine.  I really didn't feel myself at this month and time and went back to the GP for them to prescribe me something. She gave me ?Mebrovine three times a day every day before food. After a week this just constipated day so I cut it down to one day which seemed to be perfect. Three weeks ago was the first time I was able to go on a night out and not go to the toilet whatsoever! Schools have been regular still with IBS factors but the pain was non-existent so I was happy about this as this abdominal pain knocked me for six.

Recently I have got sloppy in taking the medication and it wasn't until today I had a serious bout. I never eat chocolate but I had a bag of white chocolate buttons and I was on the toilet on and off for three hours. Cramps sweating dizziness and the backs of my legs aching as in the muscles.  Can anyone comment on this do any of you get AT muscles? I have noticed over the last week of not taking these tablets regularly the gloating has come back I went from 9 stone 5 to nine stone 10 in four days if anything I have been eating less. I was nine stone 10 last night and after today's bout I'm nine stone four!  Madness.

I think I will be upping the tablets to 2 day ensuring I will take them regularly again. I'm hoping this bout was a one off as if it comes back so will the anxiety and I've never been one to panic about my health!

Would be good to hear all your stories and what medication and homoeopathic treatments you all do. I find also going to bed with a hot water bottle very relieving and comforting whether I am experiencing symptoms or not.

I really don't think it's my diet as such however I do so going to Turkey made this a lot worse. Evening meals usually consist of Pasta rice cuscus mackerel salads chicken and lots of Cranberry juice. I don't drink any fizzy drinks I have aren't packet of crisps and if I want to pick on something it'll be cheeses or olives anything savoury.

Looks like I've rambled a bit too much hopefully I feel myself again by this evening as I'm keen to go for my work do!

Hi, I had a really bad bout last week which was very disturbing as I have had it under control since giving up wheat, dairy, stoned fruit, onions and garlic and some vegetables ( basically following low fodmap diet). I sometimes take anti Acid but otherwise I just put up with it hoping it will pass x I had some hazelnuts covered in dark chocolate which I think isy also be intollerant to but not sure which! Mine started after an intestinal infection. I do take 10 billion pro biotics and have started l glutamine tablets too as I've read they repair the bowel.
