What tennis shoe works with ankle brace

I'm 9 wks post op from tendon surgery. My doctor gave me the ok to start full weight bearing as tolerated in my boot for the next 1-2 wks. After that I am to transition into a regular firm sole tennis shoe with a lace up ankle brace. I don't have any tennis shoes that have a firm sole. I purchased the ankle brace from the doctors office yesterday and stopped at a shoe store to look for shoes. I could only find one shoe (New Balance Crush) that the brace would fit in and had firm sole. I ended up getting 2 pairs one size for foot without brace and onr for foot with brace just to get shoes to fit. I wore the one on my foot without brace the rest of the day yesterday and all day today. The problem now is that shoe started to hurt in my arch and when standing for a while it felt like my toes started going numb. If I'm having that problem already with my good foot what will it be like for my other foot. I have a rather wide foot and also have a hard time finding a shoe with the arch in the right place. They always seem to be closer to my toes than mine actually is. Does anyone have suggestions for a good shoe to try thats not too expensive?

Hi Vanessa, I too have had two surgeries on my tendons. I never were tennis shoes because they were too tight, or too hot, regardless of the quality of the shoe. I wear Fitlops, they are wide, airy, with excellent arch support. Comfortable to wear with the brace. My doctors thought they were good alternatives. I'm still 5 months post-op and that's all I want to wear for now. I hope this helps.

I didn't have any shoes big enough to fit over my lace up either so I just wore it around the house with my shoe unlaced and wore my boot when I went out. After only two weeks, yesterday I was told I didn't have to wear it anymore so I'm glad I didn't go out and buy two pairs of the same shoe. I love Ryka tennis shoes because they are made by women for women.
