What things around the home?

I am a week post op (laprascopic Total hysterectomy and BSO)

Just wondering what everyone got up to around the house at this stage?

I know we have to be careful....

Thank you for replying, the hospital did give me a leaflet as a guide! I haven't even used the kettle yet - a bit scared to if I am honest. The problem is a feel pretty good at the moment.. x

I ask my hubby to fill kettle with enough water for 1 cup packed tea, so when he is at wrk I could make that first cup of the morning, unfortunately as he has to work I did have to fend for myself

Yes I did that after he just looked after me for the first few days then he filled kettle for me and left me a drink by the bed

Hi what was it like sitting for long

periods I am worried about being

home alone but my sister lives 150 miles away so my son would have to

drive me there or I stay at home and

one of them will have to come in daily

but I'm not sure that is enough.

I keep thinking I wish it was over with & I feel better.

If i was you stay at home as few things i found nightmear seatbelts in cars and speed bumps let them run around for you plus stay as close to where you live as if you need any help from your gp or nurse if you travel out of area you live to recover you have to change drs i found this out when one of my wounds got infected so i returned home from mam and dads house after 2 weeks and got help from my gp and friends i go to slimming world with

Hi Colleen, hope you don't mind me cutting in, you will be advised by the hospital not to sit around for long periods of time, it's not good for any type of operation recovery, you will be at risk of DVT's for one thing, when I got home I pretty much got on with my life as before only much slower, obviously not doing anything heavy etc, if you are really concerned contact the support team at your hospital ask them for a leaflet for you to read, this will guide as to what you can do at what week post op.

Thank you so much Phoebe I will do

that, I hate the thought of being a

nuisance to my son's but I guess I

just need to get a grip & get on with

the inevitable. After my meeting with

consultant I have the wonderful job of

      telling my boss, I'm 62 now I. couldn't

retire for financial reasons which is

another problem being alone & to be

honest I'm not ready to stop working, so I hope my boss doesn't suggest it.

Thank you for all the helpful advice.

Colleen, I think as women, we all have the guilt issue's related to others helping us! We are farmers here and my hubby has had to do my farm work and housework - I feel awful watching him! I have my sisers pop in but they are all busy with their own families!  There is no easy answer and I am really struggling with feeling well (not a bad thing) and not doing the housework....

I don't sit for long periods and walk around house + walk the dogs with hubby or son. Must stress, they are NOT on leads - in our own fields!

Having followed others advice on here, I now make myself a hot drink ( I am 12 days post op).  Hubby leaves just enough in kettle. If not I fill it with my cup - as everything for me is waist high.

I must say that I am totally exhausted by 9.30pm. xx

Thank you for your reply, poor you getting an infection. I have been walking around our fields for about 20 minutes for the last 3 days and I have to keep getting up out of the chair to keep moving (arthritis & hip replacement) or I would become too stiff. Onwards and upwards x
