hi everyone... I'm looking some advice on when is the best time to take citalopram... I've been on 10 mg for 8/9 weeks now but still trying to get the timing right as in when to take it... I've tried night time before bed but read it can keep you awake when my sleep isn't great at all... I've taken it in the morning before i go to work, taken it at midday and now I'm currently at 18.00pm... all the above times is making me feel sleepy through out the day

    Hi

i take 40mg around 8pm and it doesnt seem to affect my sleep loads. Its much better for me than taking it earlier in the day as it does make me sleepy. i hope you can find a time to suit you.

hi... thanks for your reply, i seen my doc today and we decided that i would move upto 20 mg so i suggested to him what if i took 10mg in the morning and 10mg in the evening and he was all for that so my new times will be 7/8am and 7/8pm... hopefully this helps my only concern was the side effects again but will battle through them 👍👍

I hope that works well for you and fingers crossed for no side effects. personally i did not experience side effects going from 10-20mg but i did suffer with nausea and hot/cold feelings when i went 20-40mg. Its so nerve racking increasing dose but hopefully your new dose will soon settle and work well for you

it is still very early days - a dose increase can also bring a return of side effects - can you inform your HR about what you are going through - they cannot penalise you for mental health under the Equality Act 2010

side effects come and go for anywhere between 4-12 weeks including after a dose increase but this drowsiness and tiredness will eventually go. can you take sick leave or annual leave? sick leave for mental health is allowed and again as i mentioned they cant penalise you
