Ok back ground on me i have endometriosis (mild pain) extremely heavy periods. I also have pcos and to top it off i have history of pulmonary embolism so i cant take ANY type of hormones. Cant take birth control for the heavy prolonged periods and IF i choose to go forward with the hysterectomy i cant do hrt. Doctor only sees reason for partial however i do have a large cyst on my ovary. I had a d&c 3 weeks ago to remove a uterine polyp came back benign. Ive had a endometrial ablasion and i STILL bleed all the time. This is obviously a hinder on my sex life.. BUT i have reasearched that sometimes women who have hysterecromy have trouble achieving orgasm and or sex desire. UGH im so torn i dont want to bleed anymore and wiyh my thickned.lining which was at 22mm last ultrasound i am at greater risk for uterine cancer but a hysterecromy is a HUGE SURGERY and im only 28. Any input would be greatly appreciated.. ive tried all minimal invasion options to no avail.

Hi Jessica,
Sorry you're going through all this. You're right, a hysterectomy is a huge surgery. I would suggest a second opinion to help you sort through all this, as you need to make a decision.
But it seems to me that you're worried about having a normal sex life, when your doctor has told you that you have a risk of cancer. Believe me, with a little ingenuity you can have a good sex life and have the surgery, too. Getting cancer is a much more serious consequence, no matter what your age. xx

You probably don't want to hear this Jessica, but I have been unable to achieve orgasm since the hysterectromy 2 and a half years ago. I am telling you my personal experience. It's not all in my head, my doctors agree and put me on HRT but this didn't help. Good luck with your choice

Have you had or are planned big to have any children? You've got a very tough decision to make, as hysterectomy can sometimes also leave you with a raft of forever issues, but not always. Surely the embolism issue is huge with the surgery though? Are you on blood thinners?

Oh gosh........ you poor girl, and have a tough decision to make. I'm not sure I would even know which option. Fingers crossed for you that if you decide for the surgery, that you have a good outcome. Your age is a big plus for sure.
