What to do when a panic attack feels like a heart attack?

Hi,

I feel better than I did last nite but still very anxious. I woke up in the middle night in a sweat and my heart was racing, feel like I can hear it beating. I had panic attacks before but not like this, that last most of the nite. I live with my parents and they were asleep. I felt so helpless and just waited till the morning. I called out from work and told my parents. I think what brought this on was my job which is stressful and been meaning to ask my boss to work 4 days instead of 5. Tried looking through my insurance for a therapist but its not easy. Any comments is appreciated .

Thanks

sorry you are going through this. I know what it feels like. Next time you feel like that, search YouTube for something called stop panic attacks now. Then scroll down to one called " don’t panic". It is in black bold letters.

sit down or lay down and listen to this short support for panic. She will guide you through it. she has been through many panic attacks herself. Just follow what she says to do. It will relax you and it will bring down your heart rate. i used this so many times and it really helped me a lot! proper breathing is the key to bringing down the heart rate and the anxiety.

Also, don’t give up on finding a counselor. Call your insurance company and ask for recommendations around where you live. They should be able to find some that are in your net work

. If that doesn’t work, your community would most likely have low-cost or free counseling. Go to your local Community center near where you live and ask for resources or most churches will have free counseling and if not they can recommend and give you resources for free or low cost counseling .

and YouTube has very many meditations to reduce anxiety. They have great meditations for sleep, relaxation, anxiety, overthinking,. I do this every night when laying down to sleep and I always fall asleep before I get to the end of the meditation. But getting counseling is very important because they can help you learn how to manage the panic and anxiety. I do hope you feel better soon. let us know how you are doing! Take care ❤
