Hi Maria, I am 33 and I have had 3 of them. The procedure only take about 15 to 25 mins and you are asleep the entire time. The worst part of the procedure is the prep. The stuff you have to take to clean yourself out is awful and you will be going to the bathroom quite a bit the day before. It's not painful at all and when you wake up you might have a little discharge on your bed but that is normal. It is a walk in the park besides the prep.

relax and dont freak out! there is nothing to it! they tell you it takes an hour but that includes the nurse going over your meds etc. then the anesthesiologist comes in tells you what hes gonna give you (which you won't understand) and they take your blood pressure, put the IV in (which they are all excellant at in these dept) take u in the room, you see your doctor, the anesthesiologist is with you and they are all comical and its over! the doctor comes to see you tells you his findings, always take biopseys, remove polps, and says your good to go! you are out about 20 min. they give u soda or drink and you get dressed and go home. If they give you propathol it's what I always request. That 20 min. u are out are the best sleep you will ever have. I feel ready to go, refreshed and amazing! great sleep med. With propathol you will not be groggy and out of it all day. I go right out and eat. I have had 4 and they always find polps, very common and usually nothing. they make me come every 4 years cause of polp findings so that is normal. I have to say I am a big baby and I freak at anything medical and this is nothing. I had an endoscopy last year too. love my gastro doctor. propathol is the way to go. good luck and enjoy the sleep. there are risks but very slim and usually only happen if in your late 70's! Stop reading doctor Google! lol
