What to expect with a foot Dr...

I usually have problems with the bottoms of my feet during my period which is due to hormones I'm sure.. But lately my left foot has been giving me issues-- it's on both sides of my foot.. I'm PRAYING that it's nothing big b-cuz I know surgury happens with too.But just wanted to see if others have gone.. Will they take an x-ray of the foot? Just trying to figure out how they will know.. maybe my leg is shorter than the other,.. Just so mind boggling because I need my feet!! I enjoy walking and if I can't then ... : (
