What type of doctor is best - gynecologist? dermatologist?

I'm looking for a good LS-knowledgeable doctor in Northern California to get some better help.   Most of the referrals I'm seeing are for dermatologists.  i was kind of hoping for a gynecologist because of all my female parts involved.  Does anyone have any comments on which kind of doctor is more suitable?   Have people been helped by dermatologists for fairly advanced cases of LS?

I think gynecologist may be a better choice because if any surgical methods are recommended they have the expertise in genitalia issues.  I do not have personal experience but I have heard from others that some procedures are available that may be helpful.

My regular doctor after seeing the symptoms in an annual physical, sent me directly to a Gynecologist, who diagnosed it immediately.  However, on the second visit to him he did a biopsy and it confirmed LS.  My Gyne prescribed the Clob.  I have since learned about the borax and use that too.  My LS (knock on wood) is manageable.  Good luck.

You need a vulvar skin specialist more than a gynaecologist.  Unfortunately in UK where I am they are all male, something I hate especially having a biopsy, they maybe have seen it all before as they say but not mine me thinks,
