My best friend is my"! second self"........Socrates ....only when one is TOTALLY truthful about oneself to oneself........The realization process commences......no it is NOT about liking or loving oneself....they do not matter....and least important....self awareness and consideration is superior!!!I will add more later on! :-)

Just joining a forum like this, knowing that there are others experience the same thing, sharing those experiences and that it's not "just in my head" or me being "over sensitive" or that i "worry too much and should get over it". Knowing that i can have slip ups, bad days, panic attacks and if i do, that's ok.
I've suffered from anxiety problems over half my life, it's part of who i am now and it's not about trying to be "normal" or be like everyone else. It's about accepting who i am and how i can be best for me, not for someone else. It's about falling down ans picking yourself up again, over and over if needed, slowly coming out stronger each time. It's accepting that the anxiety is a part of me, not the part controlling me. Most importantly, it's knowing you are not alone.

I love discussions like this.
When I was first diagnosed, I felt so alone. I was initially diagnosed with Panic Disorder and then later Generalised Anxiety Disorder. It wasn't a common thing back then, at least not in my circle. I felt judged left right and centre. I did so much research online and soon the power of quotes and affirmations became clear. The one that has stuck with me all this time, almost 8 years on is 'Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind'
In saying this to myself every time someone didn't understand or dismissed my feelings, It made the expectation for them to understand less and the process of getting better much easier.
I actually wrote a full blog post on how this quote helped me if you want to give it a read. You can find it here...

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive." -Acts 20:35
I know it is from the bible and I don't usually read the bible honestly. But I feel like this quote gives me the purpose I need to get through anxiety.
It says that we are called to help the weak. And in this case the people with anxiety. I felt like I didn't want to live anymore when I was first hit with my season of anxiety and panic attacks. But I got through it and I have experience with it so it is my duty to help others going through it. This is the so amazing remedy. To help others going through anxiety. There is no other feeling.

There is a quote I like " don't grasp on to hot coal with the intent to frow it for u are the one that will get burnt" it's so hard not keeping things in letting them eat you up inside for u to finally melt down or have a go at someone seems to be my boyfriend who gets it alot. Scared to be happy scared to enjoy life but that's all I want to do but instead am riddled with fear nerves fear of rejection and I cants and what if they think this what if they say that. I actually don't know if I know the feeling of being happy and if it happend i would try to shake it off me like insect wish the was a switch for this stupid anxiety of mine.... sorry for the spelling am dyslexic

Hey,
So basically I usually experienced a lot of anxiety before the big days, like right before the exam, on the day of the presentation or occasions like that. I always used to visualize that everything would go wrong on the final day. But every time i tried out something i always succeeded and everything went off well. But then again i felt anxious and again that entire cycle continued. Over time when i started gaining confidence, i was made to realize that 'WE ARE MUCH MORE CAPABLE THAN WE THINK WE ARE'. This quote till now has helped me get over my anxiety and gain my confidence whenever I think I am starting to feel anxious.

"On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear."
This is the verse from Quran. And it helped me indeed.
Anxiety dissorder and all related illness are actually a disturbance of human believe system, when i got to know this i thought that what ever happended in past one year with me was worst but i realized that i was capable to take this it was nothing and i survived and i am good now and definatly everything in future will happened to me i will be able to handle it. So no point of OCD after that. If something disturbing happens to me its bcoz i can handle This. As i am stronger then normal people.
Yes we are stronger then the normal ppl. And we will go through everything as we can take more burdon then common ppl.

Always try to fly away when you are new to this illness and try to know more about it.
When you have confronted lots of these situations you will automatically get to knoe that you will not die of this. And then start to fight with it.
You will be be the winner for sure.

I saw a YouTube video about coping with anxiety and one thing they said was to remember an anxiety or panic attack does not last forever. When I am feeling severely anxious or having an anxiety/panic attack I remind myself this feeling is temporary. And I'll feel okay when the attack or bad wave of anxiety subsides. That has been the thing that has helped me the most.

I have been suffering from anxiety for almost 5 years now. The best thing I found was distraction. Also I came across a new blog today (I'm always looking online for other anxiety stories). And found it was the perfect image of what an anxiety attack can be sometimes. You should read it.
