Hello everyone,

I'm Stella, one of the Patient team. We would love to hear about your most life changing tip or quote that really helped you with your anxiety.

It could be what someone told you when you were diagnosed or what you have learnt through experience. Anything you think would help someone else in a similar situation.

We will be sharing these on our social media channel to help more people deal with anxiety. If you prefer, we can keep your quote anonymous (so your forum name won't appear with your quote).

Please let us know when you reply with your quote if you would prefer your name to be included with your quote or not.

Thank you so much for getting involved,

All the best

Make peace with your anxiety not war, that is what I have been told.

From what I have heard is when you fight anxiety all you are going to do is lose, when you make peace with it and except the feelings of anxiety it loses its power over you....

I've already replied on this subject but there is another thing I'd like to say. For someone who is crippled with fear to the point where they can't function I know that a very small dose of beta blockers can help greatly. Some people tend to disparage the use of "drugs" but I know there are times when you might need something to get you through a situation and you are too paralysed by fear for thinking therapies to work. I recently read in the paper a case of a university student who took her life because she was so fearful of giving a presentation. The fact that no one was able to help her appalls me. The simple use of a beta blocker would have got her through that and she would have had the rest of her life to find other solutions. Beta blockers in very small doses block symptoms caused by excess adrenaline.

I eat peppermint candies or peppermint chewing gums most of the day to calm my anxiety because I have anxiety all day, every day. When I need to relax, I take xanax.

I was told by a Psychiatrist " It's all in the past, GET OVER IT" a little brutal, but may be a trigger to overcome our issues. I'm not convinced. He referred me for Group Therapy and I attended a 6 week course on Mindfulness. Overall, I believe I got something from their presentations, but only after sitting through a lot of tedious information. Then something they said triggered a light bulb moment, and I saw some benefit in it. I can't remember exactly what it was, ( memory has been impaired since a stroke in 2011)

We need to address the past and move on, if we can approach past problems and rectify the basis of the problem in small bites that can help us move on. Yes I can understand forgetting the past and move on, However if something is bothering you and you have a problem moving on and your past bothers you sometimes clear your worries and start living to the now and plan your future with more understanding of yourself and others needs. It is easy to say to just forget about, it, life is problematic, If we can put problems to rest, it will help and then we learn

When we have problems the brain can become confused especially if there are several other problems that need addressing at the same time. That makes matters worse and your mental health may suffer, that is why I mentioned that above, clear your way and do not dwell on things that have past their sell by date. Reward yourself and not be to critical of your actions especially if you dwell on todays problems , negativity of yourself will make matters even worse. In company if someone is critical of you and your health, try not to be a victim , that just leads to more criticism

    Keep a Hold

"We must Fail before we succeed" It is very important to allow yourself to fail, to give permission to yourself that it is OK! This quote changed my life and still changing it.

**Awareness ** of what is going on helps a lot. I know that everything is caused by my anxiety even if I do not feel stressed and tomorrow they will be all gone.

I always tell myself: "Tomorrow will be a better day than today"

"Day is followed by night, night is followed by day so do our lives, we have ups and downs but once it is up it is even better than the last time because I know how precious it is."

Exercise can help in fighting with Anxiety and other kind of attacks. It's all due to our junk food and tensions. There is a program name MP45. This is a best home based workout program. I would strongly suggest to use this program.
