What was your first HSV-2 Herpes outbreak like?

I'd really appreciate some ladies input (guys welcome too but I know the effects can be quite different!)

I experienced my first outbreak about 4-5 weeks ago now, firstly just a few small blisters on my inner lips - I ordered a home test and it came back with a positive result a few days later. By then those particular blisters were gone.

A few days later really intense itching and all of a sudden I notice new ones coming on one side out my outer lips, this was bigger than the first, its been about 10 days now and over those days more kept popping up in different places with a lot of redness.

I wouldn't say it's severe, I don't have pain when urinating and its more itchy and a little irritating than painful - I've read a lot of people saying the pain was horrendous!!

I was adamant I wouldn't take medication for it and would deal with it naturally taking Lysine, Indole Carbinol, putting Manuka Honey on etc... but I started getting pain in my left side for a few days and got worried it might be causing some damage to my liver so gave in a few days ago and started taking Acycilivor just over 2 days ago and its starting to all clear up.

I suppose my question is, what was your first outbreak like and how long did it last?

And is it normal for a first outbreak to keep popping up in different places over 5 weeks?

Hello, I have have HSV2 and my first outbreak was extremely mild to the point that the doctor wasn't convinced it was. I had one sore on my clitoral hood and went on medication straight away, it lasted about 4 days. Since then I've had 1 outbreak in a different location (more on my labia) and that has taken longer to heal (around 10 days). I have read however that the first outbreak usually appears mild and then they can start to pop up all over the place. It's important to find out what type you have via IGG, if you have GHSV2 then I've read that although the initial outbreak is severe, following outbreaks are extremely mild and some people don't get another one. 5 weeks sounds like a long time though as I think they usually take up to 4 weeks. Although I have mild outbreaks I have bad nerve pain

It's really hard to explain, have you ever had sciatica? It's like a shooting pain down your leg or a dull ache

I had shooting pain but it was from my neck to my ear. I'm wondering if it could happen up there or it's just a leg thing. I'm really nervous I still have 2 weeks before I can go back to get tested again

I was 17 when i was diagnosed with HSV (I am now 32) i caught it from my boyfriend at the time who had a cold sore on his lip and he gave me oral sex. I had no idea! I was fuming. he had been my boyfriend for 3 years and I'd had no other sexual partners but him. I phoned him shouting and going crazy & dumped him. I could barely walk, going to the toilet was hell on earth. i had to apply instillagel to numb the entire area it took about 3 weeks to clear up it was the worst time of my life. I still get flare - ups , alot depends on my stress levels tbh. The outbreaks i get now are very mild and i can still continue with my daily routines etc I am about to try suppressive therapy to try and control the outbreaks as i feel theyre still too frequent. Although I've had two children, ive still never told any sexual partner, this is the bit i struggle with most and wished i didnt.
