What would you feel if hip dislocated or partially dislocated

I had left hip replaced May 30 I posted here about the stem moving but that apparently has now settled in according to X-ray taken on Friday
today I reached down to pull a briefcase out of my closet. I don't think I broke the 90 degree rule about bending and I can stand on the leg and walk on it. However I feel a soreness now at back of thigh and just to the side of the incision that wasn't there before. I'm a real worriewart so wondered if I did any damage. I read somewhere that some people had walked on a dislocated hip unaware that it was dislocated.
any thoughts on this are appreciated

Although I have not dislocated my hip I feel you would have more pain. Once you are over the initial 6 week period my surgeon told me when reaching down to go down via the inside of my legs when sitting and to extend my operated leg out and back when picking things up from a standing position. Do this until 3 months. I guess it depends on the surgery.

Hi maree
i had the posterior approach surgery and I'm not supposed to bend beyond 90 degrees. When I bent today, I hope I didn't do that but I don't remember, it was just that quick. I've tried very hard to be careful and this just happened without thinking.
I just worry a lot. I don't have pain just sort of a soreness, like I stretched something.
thanks for your comments

I was told that the pain of dislocation was so excruciating that all you could do was scream and get someone to call an ambulance. Also, it would be impossible to walk.
The IT Band is very painful but can be stretched back. I reached too far and tore my hamstring.
Still, if it's really painful I'd get it checked for my own piece of mind. Worrying and wondering will just make it worse. The human mind has quite an imagination when we don't know for sure. Good luck!

Hi dana
no I don't have any pain just stiffness today, yesterday when I posted the leg felt sore but it's back to just stiffness but it was stiff before from exercises
my surgeon is away this week and today is a holiday however if I experience any real pain I'll get to emergency care and have everything checked.
Thanks so much for your good luck wishes
all the best to you

I dislocated my first hip replacement. I didn't know till I saw my surgeon 3 weeks later. I was walking on it and doing exercises for about a week or so. I did notice the leg was shorter and even in the mirror I noticed hip was higher. My family noticed too. Wounded up having a total hip revision 3 weeks 2 days later. Then had to be 6 weeks non weight bearing and no hip exercises or hip flexion past 80 degrees for 6 weeks. I was slowly having hip pain but nothing like they were saying that it would be level 10 pain. I went about a week or more on a dislocated hip. Get checked ASAP! Wishing you all the best.

Hi Ginnys
Im nearly 18 months post op. Just after having my hip replacement I bent down and couldn't straighten up. My husband called for the ambulance and at the A&E I had an X-ray and they told me it was severe muscle cramps. On the 30th April this year I was bending taking the heads off dandelions and it went again and all I could do was lower myself on to the lawn. My husband called the ambulance they managed to get on the stretcher and on the way to the hospital I had a full canister of gas and air. When they managed to give me an x-ray this time it was dislocated. I had to have a general anaesthetic to put it back in place. I spent 5 days in hospital. I doubt your hip is dislocated but if you are worried I would have it checked for peace of mind.
All the best

I think if I had gone in sooner I may have avoided getting a whole hip revision the only thing is once they do what is called a closed reduction, meaning popping hip back in place chances of it dislocating again Is higher, at least that's what my doctor said.
