Wheels have fallen off

Bear with me here, there is some ground to cover.

I’ll start by saying i’m 35years old, male, 6ft 1 & 240lbs

I played professional & then semi professional football for just over 15yrs. during that time i used steroids yearly, between 8-16weeks at a time, with equal time off. i also used a mixture of ephedrine, T3, clenbuterol & a couple of years on hgh.

I stopped all of this exactly 3years ago because i had a combination of A: dizzy spells when i walked which would make me incapable of doing anything but laying down for anywhere from 5 mins, to a few hours & in worst cases a week more or less.  B: sudden impotence, literally no errection, softer than soft. my girlfriend couldn’t make it happen. After it happened a few times i went to the dr & he told me it was psychological. i didn’t believe it, i’m mentally strong & it just happened. I stopped all drugs & did a recovery protocol. Clomid & tamoxifen. Went to see a private dr who told me, all my bloods looked healthy & just give it time

i did. took about a year to get an errection again. Since then sex drive been normal.

dizziness however persisted, i was referred to a specialist. He did eye & ear tests, said im perfect. sent me for brain & inner ear scan perfect.

now 3yrs post giving up drugs, my dizzy spells are ridiculously frequent, almost every time i walk for more than 5mins. Also since stopping steroids i get sick, like flu/ fever almost every 8 weeks & no matter how much sleep i get i feel tired all the time. i will get my dizzy symptoms with feeling weak, cold etc... i eat healthy, don’t drink, don’t take any drugs or medications.

As of right now, i got glandular fever last week, i’m peeing blood & i also tore cartilage in my knee in january working. i’m on a waiting list for knee surgery which will probably be in the next 2 months

Am getting fed up, my life has been so beautiful & i felt invincible for the longest time, however now i feel like i’m 35 & on the road to dying & it sucks. i don’t want these dizzy spells, i don’t want to get sick all the time, i just want to be normal.

i feel part of the problem is drs are dismissive because of my steroid use. i can’t help it, at the time i wanted to  be successful & it helped me. i can’t take back what i did & don’t regret it. but just want my health back

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated & heartfelt

i’ve tried to cover everything i can think of & been open about it all so i can get best guidance or input possible

oh i once took ecstasy at a festival too when i was 30.

    Hi

Steroids are stored in the fat cells of your body, hence, it takes a long time for them to deplete. Try and reduce your fat intake, so your body can work on the steroids that stored in your fat cells. The best advice would be too drink as much water as you can daily, don’t know how long it will take for your body to get rid of them, but it does take a while. Dizziness is a common side effect on steroids.

I am not a doctor these are just what I have experienced. There's a couple things that could be giving you issues. Vertigo is one. Vertigo typically is caused by an inner ear issue but you said you had your ears checked out. But did you have them checked out by an ENT? IIH which is intracranial hypertension. Exces fluid on the brain. The only way to really tell if you have IIH is a spinal tap. I refused to go through that. I have pulstile tinnitus due to IIH. But dizziness can be a symptom. IIH is something treatable if that was your case. IIH is rear but can happen. I'm 36 didn't know I may have it till I got the ear problem in 2014. A water pill will reduce the fluid in your body but you will also have to make sure you drink lots of water to replenish and keep hydrated. See if a water pill helps with your dizziness, if it does great. You may need a script for it. I don't take water pills any more. My dizziness seems to only happen every once in awhile now. Even though you don't feel anxious either you still could be and that to could contribute to dizziness. Best of luck.

When I had vertigo due to eustation tube dysfunction, I did the epley maneuver per drs advice. Maybe try those a few times a day..and try breathing techniques to relax. I had a horrible dizzy bout, but seems, praise God, to have left..hope to stay gone..I did nasal spray for allergies, epley maneuver, and nose excercises to pop my ears..Hope something helps..take care
