When can i kneel or squat??

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi.

Doing really well now. Not on any meds ??

However at 15wks still not able to kneel or squat...infact very nervous of doing so as knees feel "full" and seem as if would pop if forced.

Due back to work on phased return next week but have to see fastphysio at our occupational health dept first.

Just get very sharp random sensation in scar occasionally.

I had my surgery May 2015, and I know that squating and kneeling took me about 5 months before it felt comfortable. It felt like all my ligaments were tight and tearing.

I held on to a chair and would go down as far as I could then back up. I would do that until finally I loosened up and didn't feel the pulling in the knee or incision area.

All is well now...It takes time at least it did for me.

Hi Angela , Well done, sounds as though your doing well. Please remember it can take over 6 ,months to get back to normal & please listen to your body, we have hads major ops. Sadly for me mine has not worked as I am a carer for my Disable Hubby & have had to help him walk as his mobility is awful and also look after myslef. When I could have had more help but its been for me HELL as I am scared as I need my knees & other hip doing, but its not going to happen as I am haveing spa baths when I can & reflexology. Wow Amanda -- It sounds like things have been really rough for you.  I can't imagine going through this recovery (I'm 6 wks post op) AND taking care of someone else.  Impossible.  But I guess that is what you have had to do.  I don't know if some sort of respite care would be available to you? You've probably looked into all that.  Big hugs to you -- what a journey.  Hugs,

      Leslie

    Hi Angela,

I am 5 months post op and still can't kneel. I can squat but the added weight on my knees when trying to kneel is really painful and uncomfortable. In fact I hurt my knee quite badly a few weeks ago by kneeling on it and my physio put a sort of brace thing on it to help it heal. I'm not going to try to kneel again for at least 3 months. Long handled brooms and mops are a must! I've been told things should be back to 'normal' by 12 months.

    Good luck!!

    hi angela,

I understand your concern - kneeling and/or squatting still is challenging for me - it is getting better though - I might be too careful ? my knees feel so bony and it hurts when I am on them -

Good idea to go to PT -

let us know how you are getting on Okay?

    big warm hug
