When does everyone take their tablets, morning or night?

I was just wondering when everyone takes their tablets and whether it effects then at the beginning with side effects more if u take them in the morning than night time? I have found that two hours after taking them in the morning I start to get the side effects (bearing in mind I am only on day 3) of feeling sick, dizzy and shaky, after a while it seems to pass but working on reception and having these feelings really isn't helping my anxiety, would it be better if I took them at night instead so the side effects don't last as long and they pass whilst being asleep? Just I don't want to keep having time off work because of feeling so awful in the mornings. How long have the side effects lasted everyone?

Need advice guys smile

Thanks in advance x

    Hi Holly

I usually take 50mg around 9am every day.Week 1 & week 2 the side affects were quite harsh..pretty much what you describe plus I has heightened anxiety as well. Week 3 it started settling down & week 4 was better again..im now at week 7/8 and the effects are pretty minimal although I do still get 'head buzz' but if I concentrate & think of the positives & remember they are helping it 'helps'.

My doctor prescribed 10mg oxazepam for a short period to begin with to help calm the added anxiety so maybe you could see your doctor for advice on this or something similar.

    Hope this helps

I am on 50mg too. Yes I sometimes feel on edge like really anxious too but that does pass, it's just frustrating having time off work whilst the tablets balance out and adjust to my body. I'm glad I am not the only one experiencing these kind of side effects, hopefully they will ease soon. I am happy that they are working for you and you are getting extra help with the added anxiety. Might have to ask about those extra pills, although I have been using rescue remedy which helps a bit. Did combining the two tablets have added side effects or were u okay?

      Thanks for replying smile

I think pretty much everyone experiences some sort of side affects at 1st...the doctor & pharmacist did say it was likely to happen along with heightened anxiety.im taking them for a mixture of anxiety & depression.at 1st it did get a bit worse but it gradually gets better so hang in there & don't give up!

The Oxazepam certainly did help, they tackle the anxiety & help you relax-you can take up to 3 a day & there was no side affects other than feeling more relaxed which is good?but they are only short term as they can be addictive apparently....but once the Sertraline started helping I didn't need the oxazepam as much & now I don't need them at all so you can see the picture im painting you. smile

I will definitely think about the other tablets, going to see how I go over the weekend, but it definitely sounds like it worked for you.

Keep me posted of your progress smile

Best to take them in the morning as they are not sedating so if taken at night some people report sleep disturbance. But all SSRIs can cause this anyway, especially at start of treatment, but it does get better, like most side effects.

I would much prefer sleep disturbance than miss work though, will see how I go but might do me good taking them in the evening before bed.

If I were to change taking them in morning to night, how would I go about it? Miss tomorrow mornings and take it in the evening or take late tonight and then late again the next evening? Not sure what is safest?

My side effects were effecting me too much when I took the tablet in the morning I take mine just before I go to sleep along with diazepam when I took it in the morning I couldn't even get out of bed x

I know what u mean, I literally wake up shaking, even my legs shake when I walk down the stairs. Is diazepam for sleeping or just a relaxant?

My doctor gave it me to relax as I've been really agitated and to get me over the worse of the side effects it can make you sleep too I didn't take it in the morning when I first did it I left it till the night I took it the morning before then left it till the night the day after x

So you have to be prescribed it and can't get it from any local chemist? If it helped relax u might look into getting some for myself, these side effects are horrible sad

I would ask your gp I'm hoping once the sertaline starts to work I won't need the diazepam but is definately helping me at the moment x
