When does sertraline actually kick in?

Hi to you all,

I've had panic disorder with agoraphobia for over 20 years. I was on the highest dose of Duloxetine for approximately 10 years, but recently my GP took me off this, as I was beginning to have many episodes of panic attacks.

I started taking 25mg of sertraline 18 days ago. Since then the GP has raised the dose to 50 mg and then on day 14 of taking sertraline she raised it again to 75mg. I wondered if anybody knows how long it takes to get in to the system. I currently feel more anxious and highly agitated. I'm finding it hard to leave the house. Any advise would be welcome, as would any information on this medication. I need to start feeling better soon, as I am self employed and need to earn some money. This is also adding to my anxiety!

Thanks!

    Hi there

I am on 50mg. It can take up to 18 weeks before you fully see it working. I have been on it for 12 weeks and still experiencing side effects. Don't get me wrong, the side effects are not as bad when I first started on them but you do still get days being anxious and the insomnia is a right bitch still.

Hi..I have just found this post and I'm so glad I did. I have recently been diagnosed with depression and it's been a bit of a nightmare with meds. I have been on fluoxetine 40mg for several years for my PMT but this wasn't helping my depression. My doctor starting me on mirtazapine and it really did make a massive difference, I felt like I had me back even after just a few weeks of taking it. The only problem was I was piling on weight. I put on nearly 2 stone in 6 weeks so I came off it. My doctor has now put me on sertraline 50mg but after a month I am still terrible. I'm not sleeping..I am more anxious then I've ever been, I'm not going to have any skin left on my lips and around my nails. I am constantly tense and I can't relax at all. I am having mild suicidal thoughts too which I didn't even have before I started taking AD meds. I don't know what to do, I am getting worse daily and I am a single parent of 3 young kids and I have 2 businesses that are all being effected. Any advice would be much appreciated.
