When I sit it feels like my nerves get compressed

When I sit for a MINUTE OR TWO it feels like my nerves get compressed and the sensation changes in my bottom and my legs. I get the same feeling in my shoulder blades when I try to lie on my sides. This started several months ago. The neurologist checked me out but I haven't had a recent MRI yet. He thinks it's fibromyalgia. How common is this in fibromyalgia, and what is the best source of information/explanation of my symptoms? I haven't found any info. about my particular symptoms anywhere.

I'm surprised you can't find anything in Google...I google Fibromyalgia and get alot of results.
I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia...I don't know how common it is...but I find it commonly diagnosed when they can't find anything else...after they rule out Lupus, SLE and Lyme.
The Neurologist does all the blood work for those tests (if your Dr. didn't already).
Then if you have other bloodwork that is off like "inflammation markers"....they sent you to a Rheumatologist...the Neurologist is not the typical Specialist to diagnose Fibro....a Rheumatologist is.
The BAD thing about Fibro...is people don't believe in it....they don't believe (common folk)...you have ANYTHING because Fibro does not have a test for itself....
Well, it does..but it is new and it costs the patient 747 out of pocket as I was told by my Doctor yesterday. Because i was telling her that I am SICK of other Doctors really not believing in my symptoms because Fibro is too over diagnosed...when they can't find a condition that has more "respected" names.

Hi Erin, I seem to remember a discussion on this forum a while ago about the sitting part of your post. I have the 'nerves being compressed' feeling sometimes when sitting but not all the time, and I know several other fibro sufferers who experience the same thing. When it happens it's also excruciating when I first stand up again. Don't know if this happens to you too? x
