Hi,

When do u guys take your sertraline tablets. Trying to figure out what's best time of day for me due to side effects. I have only been on them three days now and currently taking it before I go to bed at night incase it causes drowsiness through the day. In saying that, one of the side effects I am experiencing is insomnia

Thanks

Hi when I started them I used take them at night as they made me drowsy, but I also used to have the insomnia part also but it passed after about two weeks, the sleepless nights can be pretty bad and long, try lavander as it helped me also, and exercise, and plenty of water.

    Hi.

For me, I started taking these in evening, and caused me a lot of insomnia. I stuck with it for a few weeks and no change, so I started taking it earlier and after a while found that for some strange reason, between 2 and 4 in the afternoon was the best??? I don't get any drowsiness with them at all, sleep well and get up fine at 6am every day. Father to four young kids lol.

I am in 150mg. Was in 200 bit found this to be too much and have me many stomach issues. I am a crohns sufferer so it was Important I didn't upset my gut.

All is good now on 150 taken around 3pm every day.

Good luck and remember everyone is different. What works for one may not be the same for others .

    Hey there,

I changed from Clomipramine to Sertraline a year ago and had to come off Clomipramine completely before starting Sertraline. Gradually increased Sertraline dosage in 50mg instalments to 200mg daily to treat OCD. It took 3 months of Hell until it helped me with about 2 months insomnia. I remember I was freaking out about not sleeping and whether the medication would help me as I was in a really bad place. There aren't many sleeping pills you can take with Sertraline, so best to talk to your GP. They prescribed me Temazepam but you can't take it for long. Always read instructions even for over the counter sleeping pills from pharmacies as some can interact with Sertraline. Even some homeopathic ones can too.

I found changing from taking Sertraline in the evening to the morning helped. But as I said it took 12 bloody weeks for it to kick in although it apparently takes longer for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder then treating other illnesses. Sertraline can be used for all sorts of illnesses. I am so glad I went on it and I function well now and sleep great. Able to manage OCD much better and perform well at work.

Good luck and hope it helps you.
