When is heartburn not heartburn?

I've been searching for some help with my situation but can't seem to find anyone in a siilar boat.
For the past 5 weeks I've had a burning feeling deep in the centre of my right chest. It feels like it's half-way between my chest and my back. It comes on around 11am and stays all day.
My doctor put me on 60mg of Omeprazole a day as he thought it was heartburn. It did nothing. Nothing at all. It's not the same feeling as indigestion/acid reflux. I've had that when I was pregnant and this is different. It's not food or drink related, it's not worse when I lie down and it's pretty much every single day, all day. The only relief I get is when I'm asleep.
Occasionally I'll get one full day when the burning stops and I feel amazing ... and then the next day, BAM, it's back. It's really getting me down and my doctor just keeps saying I have heartburn but I KNOW it's not that.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?
I do have health anxiety but this has been five weeks of hell and I'm not convinced it's just my anxiety causing this pain.
Thanks in advance.

How did you get off the ppi? Are you now ok?

I had very wrid symptoms that heartburn comes when I exert myself or run for an amount of time. Did a lot of heart tests (although I'm still young) and everything was fine. Did an endoscopy and it was also good. Then I realized that symptoms come back when I suddenly reduce my ppi from 40mg to 20mg hence it caused a confusion. So started decreasing it gradually from 40mg to 10mg over around 6 months. Now I feel okay and I got back to exercising with no symptoms.

- not being patient enough until the medicine is effective.
- Reducing the dose suddenly by half

They call this "rebound", when acid starts building again and becomes worse than before
