When to worry - BM question

Posted , 3 users are following.

I am about 2-3 days post hemorrhoid removal. Surgery was the 23rd so not sure if im considered 2 or 3 days post op. Im starting to freak out as no BM happening. I've taken colace since day of surgery and added in one dose of milk of magnesia last night and today have had two doses of medamucil. I'm really freaking out that im not going to be able to poop.

I wanted to add that i did take Hydrocodone for 24 hours and havent had anymore in the last 12 hours. Not sure how long after I might expect to get things moving.

Don't freak out. I didn't have a BM until 4 days post-op. I ended up having to take Miralax. It will happen.

    Do not freak out!

freaking out was my first BM at day 11 in the Emergency Department.

Take loads of fiber .. but what really helps is sitz baths the more your able to do like 4 to 5 a day helps it relaxes your bowls. And when your first BM happens dont look dont strain to hard.

Xlyocaine really helps during the first BM dont feel pain. Walking also helps the bowels.

good luck and you got this.

Nothing by Monday call your surgeon office they can offer advice but with all you've taken should do it. Hydromorphone does make you constipated

thank you guys! i woke up this morning and had a BM! It was such a relief. Hurt like heck but relieved. I jumped right in the bath and soaked for about 15 min. Its still super sore and it feels swollen. The pain is bad 100% but its somewhat tolerable at the same time.
