When unknown foreign objects get into your eye, can you ALWAYS feel discomfort or other symptoms?

When unknown foreign objects get into your eye, can you ALWAYS feel some discomfort or other symptoms?

In other words, if you don't feel any symptoms, is it unlikely that nothing actually enters your eye or

it has already been removed by our tears and we are safe?
