When vulvar lichen planus keep coming back!

I was finally diagnosed with vulval lichen planus about 3 years ago, but have had symptoms for about 5 years - the old story! I've been seeing a dermatologist who has now discharged me, but gave me a regimen to follow with the Dermovate (daily for a month, then twice a week for a month and repeat). So, I've been following that, but find that, even though I get things clear - or just about clear - within a few weeks the rash comes back. Next week, I'm going to be asking my GP for a gynaecology referral to a different hospital who have a vulval clinic, which is supposed to be very good.

I know you're not supposed to use Dermovate all the time without a break, but does anyone else have this problem of it looking clear and then coming back a few weeks later?

That is dreadful that you've had it so long. The dermatologist I saw told me it usually burns itself out after two years, but I think it's more persistent when it's vulvar or oral . I got my referral to the gynaecologist and will speak to him/her next week (telephone consultation). Are you under a specialist? It might be worth going back to your GP. Take care.
