When will anti depressants start working

Hello, I am new here. I suffer from extreme anxiety and depression. I started Celxexa 7 weeks ago and although there is some improvement I am still anxious and feel no joy in my life. I have a great life with 2 beautiful children age 1 and 3 and I even work at my dream job but I can't focus to take on any jobs. I workout 4 days a week with every bit of energy I have but still feel no joy. I want to sleep all the time and I shake with anxiety. I can't eat really and don't even clean myself properly. I cannot spend any quality time with my children because I am unable to goto the park or anywhere outside. My question is, will the anti depressants kick in and when. Like I said I am on week 7. Has anyone had to wait longer for them to work? These meds are my last hope as I have tried everything. CBT,Neru feedback, Bio feedback and vitamins, working out, walking etc. Some insight I would really love to hear. Thank you.

I do know that anti-depressants can take many weeks to kick in. Usually if you don’t see much improvement within about the eighth week, let your doctor know. It might take a little longer than that but that’s the norm.

do you have any help at home?

the anti-depressants should help but they don’t always work in relieving some of the anxiety or negative thinking, racing thoughts. maybe in some people they do. I found that I had to really push myself to start feeling better. It’s difficult but I made myself do things that I didn’t feel like doing.

I also had to start thinking more positively. I got into the habit of feeling sorry for myself which in the end would make me feel worse and not motivated. I hope that the medication starts working well for you.
