When will it end?

At a recent meeting with my ENT doctor he mentioned the vertigo element of Menieres burning its self out. I’m 55 and have had Ménière’s for about 10 years. The hearing loss and tinnitus seem to be permanent, but at least there is some hope that the dizzy spells will stop. Does anyone have any idea of when this will happen? Although this disease is very depressing the idea that part of it will end gives me some hope.

Hi David...I'm like yourself, had 2 hearing aids fitted afew days ago and constant tinnitus. Good thing about hearing aids when in I can't hear the tinnitus!!!!!! That's great news if the dizziness burns itself out, can't wait for that to happen, it takes over your life. It would be interesting to hear if anyone knows how long it takes.

    Hi David and Baggibird—

I’ve only been diagnosed for six months but I have done some reading and have read that often between five and 10 years there might be a remission. I talked to another person who got better after two years, was fine for 15 years and then they started again and were  very severe.  I am interested to know what your attacks are like and if there are any ways of coping that might help the rest of us.
