When will overthinking stop?

on 20mg citralopram 4 months and still overthinking and worrying most of the day. Some of the worries are real and some are exaggerated because of the illness, for example, thinking I will lose my job. This is definitely feeding into my anxiety ad depression. Will this ever stop?????? any hints on CBT techniques to help with this?

hi I have been on citalopram on and off for 12 years for anxiety. when I was on 20mg I was still over thinking and still did not feel like my old self. the doc put me up to 30mg and can honestly say that went away. now and again I will feel anxious but after a day or so I go back to my normal self.on the days I do feel anxious I will do something to take my mind off it like turn the music up and clean the house or go out and look around the shops. even play games on my phone. I hope you settle soon but after 4 months it could be that you need to up the citalopram slightly or do a course of cbt.

cmac have you noticed any improvement ???? it can take 6 months or longer to recover and then it just keeps getting better. overthinking and worrying is a side effect of anxiety.

i would try and keep busy when i would overthink !!! this really helps with overthinking. try not to be alone thinking and stewing and talking about it. dont search the internet. these things only make worse . be with positive family and friends. 4 months still a little early keep going!!!
