Recovery is going great, but now that I feel more normal I wish I could be more normal...I'm 45 with two young boys and need to relieve my husband of school run duties which I have started again this week, but after school gate and 2 pick ups, I'm going back to a lot of swelling around scar and having to put on ice packs...physio says all ok just cut back on driving, how long have you guys had to ice and elevate??

Hi Frances, yes I am still evening icing if that makes you feel any better. I dont have to drive the distances you do but I am using a stick if I go on the tube and when I get home I always need to elevate and rest ... and I'm only a week ahead of you.. dont despair. How is physio going is it helping? xx

I haven't had to ice although I did find my ankle swelled up a bit in the evening and I needed to get my feet up for a while.  It still swells a bit if I've been pushing the exercise a bit and I'm 13 weeks on. I found that trying to get my feet up when the swelling started was the best as that way it went down quite quickly.  My knitting grew in the early weeks!  Good luck, we're all different and you are making good progess

Has gone down quite a lot with ice and elevating it, it hadn't been swelling so much so it was a bit ofa shock to see it up so much again.  Maybe I should take up knit ungodly, sounds a good idea! Thanks for the reply ros.

That should have just been knitting don't know where ungodly came from !

I just find it easier sometimes to have something tangible after my 'feet up' session than just to spend it reading or listening to music.
