When will the anxiety go ?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi I've been on sertraline for 7 weeks. I started on 50mg then 100 mg and the last few weeks on 150mg. The following has improved:-

Mood

Appetite

Concentration

Restlessness

Panic attacks

IBS

Energy

Going shopping

However I still suffer horrible anxiety symptoms especially when I go out. I still wake up and I can feel my muscles tense up. I ache in my neck, back, abdomen and joints. I've had loads of blood tests, ECRs, colonoscopy, chest and abdomen xrays. Dr diagnosed GAD but why won't it go away on medication. HELP

Hi Karen, these are huge improvements. Give it time. I'm around 3 months in and am doing great, even severe neck stiffness has subsided - try Epsom salt baths 20 mins a day. Give it a few more weeks, you will see increment improvements.

Thank you for your reply. At what stage did you feel the anxiety lifting? My mood is lifting but I can't be normal again until these horrible anxiety symptoms go away. I'm trying yoga and relaxation but I wake every day

To tight muscles everywhere and it makes me feel unwell. X

Well, it may be different for everyone, but for me, it helps me first with my obsessive thought, then my anxiety, then my depression. As for the tightness of muscle stiffness, it went away at around the 10 week mark. It used to be so bad that I would turn my head from side to side and couldn't hear my neck crack. And I could always crack my neck because it makes me feel better and less tense. But I started soaking in warm baths with Epsom salk that that seems to help. You have to try to cope with the side effects as best as you can until they subside in intensity, if not disappear completely. Hang in there.
