When your meds are working do you still have anxiety when you wake up in the morning?

I am only in my 5th week of Sertraline, 21 days @25mg and now 10 days @ 50mg.  I realize i need to give the meds at least a month or more to determine if they are working.  What i want to know is if they are working during the day and I am feeling better, few/no waves of anxiety, does that also mean I will not wake up in the morning feeling anxious before I take my meds?  Or will I always have that rush of anxiety before my next dose?  I find that time in the morning quite unbearable and its so hard to face the day when that is how it begins.  thanks

    CG,

My morning are the worse for me.  I take 75mg.  50mg in the morning and then 25mg at night.  It takes me forever to get up out of bed in the morning.  This morning I woke up at 5am, could not fall back asleep at all and then finally got out of bed at 7am.  Its really hard to make your brain stop the panic, but self talk seems to help alot.  I wake up every morning in panic and it lingers throughout the day, but I have to deal with it and hope this stops soon.  It is not an overnight fix.  We all wish it was.  Like when you get a cold or flu you can take meds and it gets better after a couple days, but in this case that we go through, it does not happen so quick.  I am here to talk if you would like smile

Thanks for the postive words Peggy.  How long have you been on your current dosage?  Do you feel that it is enough for you and that the mornings are getting better slowly?  I am stuck in the cruel situation that I worry that 50mg will not be enough and eventually I will have to increase again and relive the heightend anxiety that comes with upping my dosage- I know i have to give the 50mg enough time to work - even now i can feel the times during the day that the anxiety lessens, but they are few and far between.  I really appreciate your support.  This forum has been a lifeline for me.

I hit the 6 week in 100mg tomorrow and i can honestly say things do get better. You just upped your dose 10 days ago so u will still go through the ups and downs. I still get the occadional anxious morning but it goes away much much quicker now. Your body and brain are adjusting to a huge change and patience is key. I know its hard to ve patient (it was for me) but now im so glaf u stuck it out and i feel so much better. U can do this!

Thank you for the supporting words.  How long did it take you to get to 100mg?  did you feel the effects of the meds at the lower dosages but just not as often/as long during the day?  I seem to be cycling through highs and lows constantly - though my day always begins with a wave of overwhelming anxiety.  Thanks again for the reply.  Today is going to be a long day.

I started 2 weeks on 50mg and made the jump to 100mg. I couldn't go slow because of how bad i had gotten. I knew that it was going to be hell to start at 50 and then jump to 100 but i told my self i had no choice. Since I've been on the 100mg ive only had 2 panic attacks and some slight anxiety here and there. But i saw much bigger changes this last week and a half. Im excited to see what happens these next 2 weeks since ive read and heard that 6 to 8 weeks is when it stabalizes and reaches therapeutic levels.

Well with myself CG, it took about six weeks to finally reach a therapeutic level, In which you should have bouts of feeling good. It does take time and due to that level the half life increases which means if you miss a dose it ain't too bad. So yes your morning hang ups will clear off. If you make the sertraline work it will 😃

I have been on Zoloft for 10 yrs I was only on 50mg for that long, then I had some more panic and depression, so they increased it to 100mg 6 weeks ago.  It got worse, so I think the dose was to high for me.  I have been on 75mg for 4 days now.  So I am trying to just focus on getting better and to stop thinking so much LOL.  Its easier said then done, but I am taking baby steps.  Thats all we can do right now is take it day by day, sometimes take it hour by hour smile
