Where are you dizzy?

I forgot to ask in my last thread, but do you feel dizzy in your whole head? Mine is mostly concentrated ti the forhead/eye area. Don't know if that's weird or just normal smile Anyone else who has dizziness in a specific part of the head? Nah, it's probably weird biggrin

When I had it, it was extreme vertigo, I felt like I couldn't get up from a laying down position.  The room was spinning and I had no sense of balance.  I had to hold on to the walls if I got up.  It was the same feeling if I was up and turned my head or bent over.over time it eased into more like a whole head dizziness with lack of balance.

Mine was the same as CJN. I couldn't move my head at all for days without the room spinning around me. I had to hold on to my husband to get to the bathroom. I usually kept my eyes closed as that helped. After a week or so I could move around the house but I had to move very slowly, thinking about every step. I couldn't look up or down as the room somersaulted over my head. It's now 13 weeks since it began and I'm improving slowly. I feel lightheaded a lot of the time but the spinning is much less often. I still get dizzy if I look up to a high shelf or to peg out washing and I can't look directly down to my feet or I lose my balance. Life has become a lot slower for me as I think about all movement before carrying it out. Frustrating!

But what I have now isn't vertigo. I have that (bppv) from time to time, this is a different kind of dizziness... I get this when walking and standing, likely it's phobic dizziness.

BPPV is vertigo! As you know it's the cyrstals dislodged in to the inner ear giving a false impression that your still moving - I can sort of deal with that if I control all my movements but its the headaches and the thought of heading to the busy shopping centres with artificial lights that do my head in. For the spinning , slides and knock on effects that are happening in my head it's hard to explain it seems to make my legs go like jelly and yes I can't walk and need a bystander to help me out! The more people I speak too the more I learn who had dealt with this directly or indirectly ! Some are undiagnosed seeking little treatment where people like me are going to the ends of the earth to try and seek help ( there must be something out there they can do) ! Money is becoming a big factor now , not able to work -15 weeks now but I do have a husband that works (phew)!  Hang in there guys there are people I have met evenly get back to normality of some sort!

Donna, I'm sorry you are still having such severe vertigo...What ahelpless feeling are you/have you done Dr. Foster's exercise to move the crystals in the ear? I find it helps me to stand and move without the dizziness, but somewhat returns if looking sideways down. I'm 4 days now with no vertigo..you just never know when it will hit. Sticking with large amounts of Vit D,Bs and minerals. God bless you with good health.

I know that bppv is vertigo. But that's not what's my problem now smile I had that in February and again about a month ago. That settled with the epley. This is totally different rolleyes

Thanks for that tip re Dr Foster's exercise! I YouTube it straight away and keen to give it a go! The Epley didn't work for me so whilst waiting for the specialist in Sydney I will give this a go! Leigh how many times did you have to work on the exercise for it to work - another question would be do you do I units you feel better or do you use it to help prevent more episodes ?

Hi Donna, It worked the first time i did it correctly..before i wasn't "tucking

my chin" and waiting 30 seconds with head turned...It needs to be done exactly as she demonstrates...The Dr. said it might take several times, but to wait 15 minutes between exercises..I'm hoping this will help you!! let us know!!

wow, i replied, but doesn't look like it posted..so forgive me if this comes in twice...The somersault exercise worked the first time i did it correctly--tucking the chin and waiting 30 seconds, etc.  Dr. says sometimes it takes several attempts...I'm not sure what you mean about I units--do you mean the Vit. D? I just seem not to have vertigo as much when I keep taking it. Another person I know said their Dr. recommended massive doses of Vit D for 2 weeks to thwart dizziness...I walk a lot and am out doors..so i thought i had plenty of D from the sun...still, it seems Vit D and magnesium are common deficiencies.  I also notice a correlation between ear pain or pressure and vertigo..It sounds silly, but I switched the type of ear plugs used when riding motorcycle..and found the pressure/pain vanished..Sorry, that' probably irrelevant in your situation.  Anyway, please let us know how Dr. Foster's protocol works for you!! Hoping for the best!

Thanks again - yeah that unit was (do you do until you feel better) giving it a go with a nurse friend tonight and will let you know say in about a weeks time to make this test fair! 15 weeks now and I'll give anything a go! Wish me luck!

praying for ya. 15 weeks is too long for this misery!!!You really should see an immediate improvement after the exercise..and like the doc said..wait 15 minutes and do again if you're not helped at first.. it only takes a minute..Good you have someone with you-esp. a nurse! TC!

as promised returning to report on the Dr Foster Half Sumersault ! I had it all prepared , nurse , bucket and on call doctor number on hand and nothing happened! I didn't get the vertigo except a foggy feeling.  Attempted 4 times with breaks In between and are doing them in the morning as well(nothing)! I know the BPPV is still there as when I drop back into the lounge I feel the slide motion but not game to try the Epley to see what part it is sitting - however my physio is ringing today to see how I am so I'll see what our game plan is - I feel I'm getting way more support from my physio so I'm glad she is there for me - for her I'm her first difficult case ( country town) so I'm of interest to her to follow through!  It's the headaches that are pretty constant that are dragging me down but I'll keep plugging away - crossed a road yesterday without stressing out all by myself! Got to love that ! 😃

oh heck!!! I was hoping for clarity not a foggy feeling..I'm sorry Donna!!

So here's another thought..My Dr. says to try the neti pot rinse..to move the eustachean tubes..(pops the ears). I've gotten relief with this, too. Bless you for trying the half somersault...wish it had been more effective. I walked 4 miles yesterday and again today..Have to watch looking down or sideways down to avoid that "heady" feeling, but otherwise, ok..wearing glasses for reading pitches my head a little, too..I'm glad your physio is checking on you. Let us know what she says.

The foggy feeling was always there but I have noticed as I continue with the summersault that my headaches subside when I do it so I do it about 3-4 times a day with the physio blessing.  Great effort on the walking as I know it's important for the eyes and brain let alone feeling like your finally getting out of the house.

Great that your headaches are on the wane  I had the "foggy" head for years after a neck injury..Working at a computer made it worse...After chiro adjusted me in 2013, it vanished!!!.I could only afford 2 months instead of the prescribed 6..back at it again now...Then last Dec. the vertigo thing came on (nasal rinses stopped the dizziness -then again severely in July. It's like you're dealing with an enemy and have to use all tactics to battle...I hope you're getting out more..Yeah, leaving the house is wonderful!!.I've been hiking for decades..but if the headache/dizziness hits..i can't make it too far. I've stopped using earbuds to listen to audio books while walking, too. I read they can play havoc with balance..for what that's worth. Thanks for writng., Keep us updated! God bless.
