where did i get herpes from

I just found out I have herpes yesterday, I was tested back in 2011 and it was negative I started dealing with someone who has had a cold sore I got tested and now I have it, I went to c him and we always kiss (no cold sore visible) now b4 my menstrual comes one I always since I was a kid got a pimple on my face this one time I busted it a few days before I went to c him we kissed then about 2 weeks later he had a cold sore, now I have read that u only get it through kissing if the person has a cold sore and the fluids from said cold sore transfers the disease, so my question is could I have given it to him through my popped zit? I told him about my results because we have no secrets and always kept it 100 wit each other. we know that there is a possibility that I could have gotten it from him as well he told me after the cold sore popped up and gone that someone he dealt with a while ago said she had got it years ago but since he never got a cold sore he figured he didnt have it I'm just wondering if n e one can give me some insight, I know this isn't the end of my world but I honestly will stay with this man since we both have it, I never wanna have the herpes talk wit n e body else .because I'm not a big fan of rejection and this thing is embarrassing

Why did you go get tested if you've never had sex? You cannot get it from a zit, if it was in fact a zit. If you have previously tested negative, your current partner has a history of cokkd sores and Noe you test positive, then it is very likely you got it from him.
May I ask how old you are, because I've never heard anyone ask this in such away, as if they got genital herpes, but it's actually oral herpes?. Society doesn't seem to view oral and genital herpes the same way. So no, people do not discuss before kissing, if they have oral herpes and unfortunately, the discussion isn't happening enough and is why it is being spread to the genitals.
You're on the right train of thought on this and it should be viewed in the manner that you are, but because 80% of Americans have HSV 1, it is so common, that it is swept under the rug and then called cold sores.. Yet genital herpes keeps the stigma. So no, people do not discuss this before they kiss, although it should be and yes, you are right, it should be discussed most definitely before oral sex.
The majority of the population gets oral herpes as toddlers, kids and teens. Did I answer your questions or concerns or is there something else I can help clear up?

It's actually rare that you didn't get oral herpes till you were 32, most get them before they are adults. Super common, nothing to worry about. Just make sure to refrain from oral sex if you have tingling on your lips, itching or Amy presence of a sore or you can pass it to the genitals

May I ask why you seem so bothered by your diagnosis, considering 80% of the population has oral herpes and you have no symptoms?
