Which emollient?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have vulval lichen planus.  At the moment, I'm using Dermol for washing and also use Hydromol Ointment after going to the loo.  I'm seeing my GP today and am going to discuss which emollient is best.  I've read about Epaderm and Emollin 50:50 Spray and I'm sure there are others.  What have others found which are good, particularly where the vulva is involved?

I have been using Aqueous Cream BP. It's important to use before, as well as after. It's a good barrier cream and isn't expensive

Thank you, Linda.  My GP prescribed Dermol for me, but I'm aware that I can't expect to get all emollients on prescription - nor would I want to.  I'll have to get some Aqueous Cream BP.  Thanks again.

I meant to say thanks for the tip about using the cream before and after.  I've only been using it after.  However, I use a water spray after, pat dry, then use the Hydromol.  But, I think, using before and after sounds better and much less trouble.

Thanks, I get really sore most of the time and find it really helps, and I also don't feel so dry.

Anything is worth a try so if you do try it I hope it helps you to.

Thank you Jane.  I'd never heard of this, but it's useful to have a list of things I can try.
