Which hemorrhoids surgery should I opt for?

I have had grade 3 hemorrhoids for while a now and it's affecting my life a lot and doctors have recommended surgery.

However, there is a huge conflict among doctors and ex patients on which type of surgery is best in terms of low complications, reoccurence and post operative pain

I have been advised by the stapler method PPH and the doppler guided ligation TDH as minimaly invasive methods that offer smoother and faster recovery

Does anyone have experiences with any of these techniques and can offer some advice?

    want to ask first :

have you been offered to band them?

no surgury ... way to remove them?

and have you tryed Venixxa medication?

Not really, I was never offered to band them, maybe because it's a grade 3? Neither did I try venixxa, is it similar to daflon?

I had a TDH in 2015 for grade 3-4 internals and externals. I got 3 good years out of it, then they came back. I had a hemorrhoidectomy 12 weeks ago and would go straight for that if I could do it all over again.

Thanks for sharing but did you think TDH is really better in terms of post op pain and smoother recovery?

I am very scared of the traditional surgery. I heard its super painful that people actually cry

My TDH was extremely painful postoperatively, but I think my surgeon did more extensive work than he anticipated. The first BM was a breeze though, but was excrutiating after the hemorrhoidectomy. It took me 2 weeks to recover enough to go back to work with both. My pain was more well controlled after the hemorrhoidectomy because I had better medication (Percocet) . You can also check to see if your surgeon has access to Exparel, which is a long term numbing agent he can inject at the time of surgery. Unfortunately, my doctor wasn't able to get that. The cure rates are not the same with both procedures. Because mine were grade 3-4, I had around a 60% cure rate with the TDH and now have an atleast 90% cure rate after this surgery. I was not aware of those numbers at the time and don't know if anyone was as it was a relatively new procedure. Good luck. I know it's a tough decision. I'll be happy to answer any other questions you may have for me.

hi, i had the traditional surgery 10 days back. I heard and read alot about how horrifying and painful the recovering process will be. Now i realized the process to recovery is very individual. I was very scared too. after surgery till now i had only slight pain during bowel movement and some discomfort. Btw I had one grade 3 hem removed. first few days is just feeling pressure on the rectum nothing unbearable. good luck!

hi I had the TDH 8 days ago for grade 3 harmorrhoids which I opted for rather than the haemorrhoidectomy as I was concerned about post op pain and recovery time . This procedure is less invasive but does have some discomfort and rest is required. From what i read the results are as good. Main thing is to keep on toP of the discomfort with regular pain meds , take stool softners twice to three times a day and eat a high fibre diet and drink plenty water . do not allow yourself to get constipated . I think the staples procedure would be much more harsh and im not sure if theres any more evidence to say its more effective but maybe you can check that out .

surgury is painful to recover from period

no matter what you have done

but it's hard because it does change your bowls you learn to rediscover them
