City Hospital Nottingham UK. Mr Radford. Great pre-op information and post op follow up. Also no need for the dreaded pressure stockings. Had a 30 day self injection course of heparin type product.
Now 2yrs post op and feeling 200%.

To be absolutely honest, it's not just the hospital that's important. It's also worth checking out the Consultant you've been given. I'd try plus any NHS or specific hospital data you can find on the internet. I was originally given a Consultant that I was not happy with, and then opted to change to another one. It delayed my surgery by about a month, but I'm really happy with the result of my THR. Good luck.

I'm surprised that it seems OK to recommend Doctors and hospitals by name, but not the internet site which may help you make your decision. Illogical.

this was a general question asking which hospital you had your operation and whether you would recommend.
I personally checked out my consultant and hospital prior to my operation, but the question was just to get people chatting and see if their was a regular hospital that comes up.
🙃

Exactly. I had a similar issue when I tried to include a link which would have been useful to anyone reading this forum. The rule is bizarre.

How do you check out a Consultant, please?

I'd love to be able to help, but apparently I'm not allowed to give you a link to a website. Try googling a surgeon's name & keep scrolling down until you find reviews for individuals.

Hi,
I live in Adelaide, Australia and thoroughly recommend Dr Ben Allen from Wakefield Orthopedic Clinic and stayed at Calvary Wakefield Hospital in Dec'19. In Jan'20, Calvary Wakefield closed it's door permanently and was replaced with the brand new $300 million Calvary Adelaide Hospital.
I couldn't wait the extra month to get my LTHR done but my wife waited and is getting her 2nd knee replaced on 24/3.

Hi Vickie and others who are under Wrightington,
I have just been referred here from my local hospital (Tameside) as they only do hip replacement for people over the age of 40. Im 35 at the moment, i was just wondering what its like there and how the operation went?.
Im worried sick about having it done 🙈.
Thanks Sam

It is normal to feel worried about any op. Replacement hips are one of the most successful operations in the world. There are nearly 92,000 done in UK each year so possibly there are a lot of people worrying like you, so you are not alone.
