Hi all, have GERD and silent reflux which is well under control. Have noticed over past few months, without warning, I can feel something warm and salty tasting in back of throat which I have to spit out as there is quite a lot, it is not very thick just white and frothy which I believe is normal for this type of complaint, just curious as to why it has started happening, it is more so in the morning but does happens during the day as well , I also feel a bit of pain in chest when it happens. Did mention to GP but he just raised his eyebrows. Have recently had a chest x ray don't think it's anything sinister. Anyone else have this and if so do you know why.

I have the same thing - For the last 3 months I've been suffering from what the doctors are saying is 'Post Nasal Drip' or 'PND' and I just wondered if anyone was going through the same hell as me. It started with a cough which has now developed into maybe every other morning or every third morning coughing up so badly that I produce a load of clear white bubbly mucus liquid. Sometimes just a spoonful amount or sometimes what feels like half a cup full. I feel I have a bitter taste in my mouth all the time and feel like I'm producing more saliva than normal, I often feel like I have a lump at the back of my throat. I'm not actually sick although it's the same feeling as being sick and I go through the same motions as being sick and then after a load of dry retching I can finally feel the mucus coming up and then I eventually bring it up. Literally after that I start feeling better until the next episode a couple of days later. It happens first thing in the morning and really disrupts my morning until I bring it up.
I've tried everything like nasal douche, antihistamines, nasal sprays with steroids and so on. I've tried eating earlier as I thought there could be a connection with my acid reflux that I've had for years. I'm on omeprazole in the morning and ranitidine in the evening for the reflux. I'm now starting to think I might be lactose intolerant as my Dad is and I know that diary can cause nasal issues thus resulting in post nasal drip.
