White Patch Near Groin

so a few months back the white area depicted in the photo was itchy but somehow over time turned white. It's no longer itchy, it doesn't hurt, and I haven't had any issues since the itchy phase so to speak.

To make a long story short does anyone know what this is? I've been to the doctor and he told me it wasn't a fungus but then prescribed me antifungal cream (maybe i missed something?). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
